What if it's not a flat panel?

Hi!
Just bought a PC the other day and then found the forum here (wish the order had been reversed, I'll probably end up buying more supplies to replace the not so great stuff I bought with my PC).
Here's my question: All the videos on the various detailing forums show PC usage on a large flat panel, now I know they do that to show the dramatic results but what about those areas where the 6.5" pad doesn't sit flat?
For instance my '93 325is has a factory M3 body kit, the side skirts are about 4" wide but have a 'ripple', hard to explain.

Well, if the picture works you can see what I'm talking about. Should I just plan on doing these type of features by hand?
Thanks,
Russ

remember there are different size pads, and flexible backing plates for smaller areas. And in some area's hand polishing with a Polishing Pal maybe all that can be done.

that's where 4 inch pads come in. I use 4 inches on half of the car now as they work better, get more marks out and I don't burn lower areas of panels from large pad overhang.
