I've done acid washing at my job now as well as jobs I've had from the last 8 years. I recently started using it less since frequenting these boards a year ago.

I've used it mainly for waterspot removal but I've never heard of using it to decontaminate. It works fantastic for that, on waterspots that havent yet etched the paint. I can clean up a pretty waterspotted car in about 40 mins, and finish up with a polish/ wax. I do use it in a production setting.

But I've shyed away from it bc of the health risks involved with hudroflouric acid, and when I do use it I put it in a squeze bottle with chem resistant gloves. No more spraying that stuff in the air for me. And when I do start my own business officially, I'm going to eliminate it from my my processes, or at least try to

Oh noooooooo.......

I feel it coming. ;)

And of course as we've discussed before Bob, I used to use this stuff by the DRUM! Heck, I used it at my house, in the street, on the driveway, and let it drain directly into the ground.

Darned stuff will reach down inside your lungs, grab a big chunk, twist it into a ball and pull it back up and halfway out to your knees before you can get a decent cough going.

Seriously, I would mix it as strong as 1:1 (in the early days) in a pump sprayer and go nuts with it. You could clean an aluminum bed rollback that'd just hauled a burned up shell with oil, trans fluid, leaking battery acid, burnt up tires and anything else without hardly scrubbing at all. :D

Only took once in the wind to realize it'd not only hurt your paint, but etch the snot out of your glass!!! From then on, the cab was wet down first, used only on windless days, and with the cab of the truck, wheels, stainless tool boxes and anything else that I didn't want ruined completely covered up with plastic drop cloths.
Including BOTH OUR CARS! :nomore:

Now the neighbors cars were another matter.

Yup...... that is exactly what my clothes used to look like after I'd 'washed' my truck beds! (That was before they were washed that is. Afterwards they'd be full of holes!)
