I have six newer model cars, corvettes and mustangs, and want to use the best product line possible as i only have time to do it once this spring. Four of them are dark colors, black, gray, and red Is the new black label the best or blackfire?Feed back pleaseFeed back please

PBL Black Label Paint Sealant is awesome and super easy to use.

I use BF.. but the best is all opinion, just be sure to polish it to perfection then top with a coating... never used a coating as I like to seal/wax my car evey couple months

LSPs IMO don't do better on color.. it's the polishing step that makes the look

I used Blackfire and I still use their Polymer Detail Spray. I switched to Pinnacle Black Label (going to try their detail spray soon, just ordered it). The Black Label is great!

If you're looking for something that requires the least amount of maintenance, I would suggest PBL coatings. Although PBL has not been around that long, it's exceeded my expectations so far.

If its proven durability you want - OptiCoat

Best product line for doing what? After correcting, Modesta P-01A primer / finishing polish then coated with Modesta BC-05. You're looking at about $250 ish per car though.

Hi Richard,

From memory, you told me the paint on all your cars is in great condition?

This being true, here's a simple recipe that will max out the shine, clarity and gloss.

First, do the baggie test, if needed clay the cars.

Next machine polish using a fine cut polish, Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish is a fine cut polish and will leave your paint looking just like it leaves Tommy's Cuda.

If you want to keep it real simple and safe while reducing the number of steps to just what's needed, then after machine polishing with the fine cut polish apply a coat of Carnauba Wax like we did on the 1956 Bel Air.

The above will consistently produce the same show car results no matter what the paint type. Like this...

The Polishing or Minor Correction Step
(Pages 103 to 105 in my how-to book)

After wiping off any polish residues we moved onto the polishing step to really maximize the gloss, clarity and shine of the clear coat. For this we switched over to Lake Country Black Flat Foam Finishing Pads and continued using DA Polisher....

Here's Nicole wearing a microfiber glove to hold the Souveran Paste Wax as she applies some wax to the face of Tommy's Lake Country Blue Foam Flat Finishing or Waxing Pad.

If all the cars have a clearcoat finish then it doesn't matter what the basecoat color is because you're working on the top coat which is clear.

Therefore ANYTHING that works on a black clearcoated car will work on a light colored clearcoated car.

If a product line WON'T work on a black colored clearcoated car then it won't work on ANY color of paint or "type" of paint including single stage.

Thanks for reply. I did not know if there was a certain product that was best for darker colors and don't have the time or expertise to "try them all" I understand the procedure steps but just want to go ahead and use the best products on marketFeed back please

Now days there is no "best". There are a lot of "best". I can take any of the below and turn a diamond in the rough into a glistening gemstone. The key is always the abrasive technology. Any of these brands use very good abrasive technology in their compounds and polishes...

In no particular order...

Optimum
Menzerna
Pinnacle
Wolfgang
Meguiar's
Sonax
Rupes

The above is just the quick list off the top of my head. There are others, like the Mothers we used here worked very well....

Since I represent over 70 brands I try not to get pigeonholed by endorsing as single brand...

I'm sure others will chime in on what they like.

I will say this however, I have a lot of very expensive cars go though,

  1. My detailing boot camp classes
  2. Our Thursday night project classes
  3. Cars I detail personally
All a person has to do is read through some of my write-ups and you can see which products I use for these types of cars.

That's just the link to the forum group that holds all the write-ups for our Thursday night projects.

Here's a car I personally buffed out last weekend... I used Wolfgang because I trust the compounds and polishes to work on a wide range of paint types. Plus, the Wolfgang line offers,

Aggressive Compound
Medium Cut Polish
Fine Cut Polish

And you can tackle anything with one of these three products. Not sure what it means to have an aggressive compound, medium cut polish or fine cut polish?

i have crystal red corvette and black lexus. loved the shine and protection from pinnacle souveran past wax. a little pricey but it shines and lasts for a few months. maybe not as long as a sealant but u can top it with one

Is blackfire that good? Which product? I have never tried them.

Just a note, you really wouldn't want to top a wax with a sealant.

see the link, note what it says about sealant and wax
