Wow!! You're a total ####. You might as well stop commenting at this point.
It may sound unbelievable but I've seen wax do the same thing and it doesn't even come close to the cost of the Gtechniq. I'm well aware that the Gtechniq is designed to last long, but it's longevity will depend on the weather conditions and how well you maintain the car.

I think the basis is of course "sticker shock".
I can understand this, and sympathize. When I was a new member here, and perused the vast myriad of products here, yes, I was shocked by some of the prices of certain products, but this shock was pretty much due to product inexperience, and naivety.
It can too often come down to the perceived, or true value of one's vehicle.
Although my 13 year old junker kia has been lavishly treated to many of the fine products here, in some ways the vehicle truly isn't worth the expense of blowing uber dollars on it. But, this beater did play an important role, being a "Test Bed".
Having "tasted" many of these fine products, such as the coatings, and other great products, experience has been greatly gained here, and I myself now know basically where I stand, and what is available at current day.
That should a new, or newer vehicle come along in my future, coatings such as GTechniq C1/Exo, CQuartz, Opti-Coat, Pinnacle GL, etc, are just a few that will be definitey on my "short list".

It's probably just me. Sometimes my perception of reality is actually different than actual reality.
This is what is swimming in my head:
1. Why is the OP saying G-Tech is so expensive - when the prices are pretty much mid line to comparable coating/glass/silica based products?
2. Why is the OP question G-Tech's performance when he hasn't used it?
3. Why why G-Tech singled out for this thread when really any line of coatings could be substituted for the words "G Techniq" here?
4. Why is Bob recommending PAM for someone's car?
5. How did this thread go from "what is G Tech" (obviously a brand of many types of products) to "G-Tech is not impressive"?

Well now....the $20 price ceiling on wax is fine and I agree with Goodloe3's main point of his post and his signature, "The Pop is in the Prep."
I have seen quite a few cars finished with M26 that looked great when they rolled away.
Defining "More Expensive" seems easy. Which costs more?
But, as we all know that is only the initial cost
You are right, in saying it depends on how a person defines more expensive. It could include lots of other value propositions:
Faster to apply and remove
Increased Longevity
Fewer Customer Complaints
Prestige
Increased Customer Satisfaction
How many applications per unit
Looks so Good your GF wants to jump you
Heartache caused by less than expected results
Fear of trying something that seems too inexpensive to possibly work
It's funny that you mentioned Pam Nonstick Spray. One of the large boat dealers in Austin, regularly uses Pledge Lemon Furniture Spray on the hulls of oxidized boats. It looks great, applies in seconds, fills swirls fantastically, smells nice, inexpensive and can be purchased at the grocery store. Unfortunately, it is just a silicone and does not last long once you put the boat in the water.

While PAM may not attract the detailer's trained eye, it will for sure attract the mutt's trained nose. Hence, we can expect some uric acid on the wheel's near future...

We used it on several cars, out 24/7. Lasted 8 month's. They wanted and still contact us to be "exclusive" installers. That costs 1500? We went with c quartz finest. Warranty by manufacturer not insurance co. I deal directly with Corey, not a salesman who has not touched a car!

They have some great products, I would almost 100% use them exclusively if they offered large refill sizes. Even if the price wasn't much different from buying 8 16oz bottles, I would buy a 128oz refill because of the ease of having it on hand. And more importantly, creating less waste for the landfills. I'm an eco-friendly detailer who pushes that in my marketing. So I go always go with products I can buy in bulk size. It's easier to store 5 big gallon size containers than 45 16oz bottles. It's a shame because I really really really like a few of their products. I just used 128oz as an example, obviously a product that comes in a 50ml bottle I wouldn't expect a 3800ml version. I just want a size where I buy it once and don't have to worry about reordering it for months if not longer.
With that being said, they have killer products, which as others have mentioned you shouldn't overlook just because of the price.
