My son and I were driving home the other day in one of the rich sections of town. We looked in this garage there sat a 60's Mustang (sorry I don't know my years on stangs) with 2 recycle tubs sitting on the hood of the car. My son 12 goes " Dad that will but scratches in the paint." Even he is smart enough to know that. Then today I was taking my daughter to school, there sits a older Porsche with all kinds of junk sitting on it and around it. It just blows my mind that peolpe do this to these classic cars. Sorry bout my rant, I just had to get that off my chest.

I understand the frustration. It kills me to see these super nice BMWs in our local grocery store parking lot with wheels that look like they haven't ever been cleaned except for the surface the local auto car wash barely touches.

But, then again, those are the same people that bring their business to me eventually so I'm cool with it in that regard!

Yeah it's not easy being rich. My cars always have stuff sitting on top of them. ;)

I know where you come from, bro. I get a little annoyed when I'm driving with my trailer with my business sign on it and next to me is a new Mercedes S-Class. Easily $90k. With wheels as black as night and swirls that make the black paint look 30 shades of color lighter than its supposed to be! Yet, they still just keep on driving past me without thinking and that car's lucky day is when it goes through a tunnel wash... Ehh w.e

I have a friend who gets hosed by the car dealers buying a new car every 2 years or so because the no longer look nice. In the past 5 years he's had an Audi TT, BMW M3, and 2 Subaru WRXs. He doesn't take care of them and the interior and exterior get crummy and he just wants to "start over" with something new.

I understand the new cars for people with money leaving them go to crap but classic cars I think they should be given a thousand lashes.

It has nothing to do with rich or poor. Some people (actually most) just see cars as expensive toys/appliances. That is why people wash them with brillo pads if at all.
We are Superman and they are Bizzaro.

gato is correct, they just see a car as an appliance even if its some classic car, they dont see it as they, they probably see it as a burden but dont want to sell it for the price its worth and want the same price as something restored....it sucks for us car guys but some just dont see the point in saving a car, heck there is some people who would rather crush a car then accept money for it!!!.

And when they just want to "get rid of that dirty old car" I swoop in and take it off their hands cheap. Then I have a new project to make beautiful again.

Being rich doesn't mean you like or even care about cars. Alot of high end car owners don't care enough to have it properly detailed.

But yes, it is frustrating at times.

I would say that most of the population merely uses their vehicles as transportation. Most do not even take the time to wax their cars with Turtle wax.

To wax or not - Morning Call

For those of you in the detailing business, you really have an untapped market.

It just goes to show that money makes you more of what you are.

Thirty years ago, 50 percent of American car owners waxed their cars, according to #### Koeth, vice president of strategic planning for car-care products company Meguiar's. Today, the number of car owners not waxing their vehicles is as high as 79 percent, he says. .
I cried on the inside....I don't get it, I simply don't.
Maybe it's because I've always been taught to take car of my cars (even my Power Wheels got washed on Saturday morning by yours truly), so I don't see why it's so hard to take care of them. It's a large investment, why do people let their cars get trashed?

 and maybe it's because I'm young and overly obsessed with detailing and keeping a clean car, but it drives me up the wall to see people say "Cleaned my car!!! :)". If you would've keep a month's load of clothes in the back seat and washed it maybe even bi weekly, it wouldn't have this complete transformation when you clean it. And who thought that giving teenagers black cars was a good idea? Heck before ANYONE can buy a black car, they have to sign a waver outlining a cleaning maintenance plan, because the car will turn grey over the period of ownership and people like us will look at it and die a little inside.

And then it becomes "I don't have any money to get it cleaned"....as if pedicures and manicures and tanning don't cost money? I suppose it all boils down to priorities...

"But it'll just get dirty anyway..."...and the tan will fade and the pedicures and manicures will look bad as well, and that'll get redone in a heart beat, because fashion police forbid they venture out in public with bad nails....

I dunno. I just take offence to it somewhat easily. It's something I need to fix. Before I had picked up the polisher and did everything by hand, just claying, Meguair's Cleaner Wax and NXT 2.0, my friends would all comment "Oh my gosh! Your car is so clean...and nice!" Now I moved on to machine polishing and onto the forums, it makes me look at everything different. And they know I do this, and I like doing it. Only one friend has followed through and actually paid me to spruce up their car. If you don't want it done, just tell me straight up. I don't like excuses, and neither does anyone else. Either follow through and get it done, or don't talk about how dirty your car is around me.

I gotta get me a cold class of Arnold Palmer iced tea-lemonade...I'm all worked up now.

^^^I know^^^...

Like to discuss this further, but right now is not a good time...

I have come to learn that everyone on this forum has a deep passion for their possesions, and not only our cars. People with money would rather pay someone for work provided, rather than do it themselves. I take great pride knowing that my 5 year old daily driver looks better than most new cars fresh off the lot.
