What is on my bumper and is it fixable?

Because of the angle it's a little hard for me to tell. Look at the 4th picture in post 1. Does that look like the same thing you are seeing? Is it pretty much unnoticeable in bright sun?

When I first checked the car out it was dusty and wet from the rain. When that area is wet...it looks completely fine.

Here is a pic farther back.

You said you only got it a few days ago? What's the return policy? 7 days? I mean a 2013 Audi A6 was still a considerable investment. Certified pre-owned, you shouldn't have to live with that.

I'd make them order you a new bumper factory painted to keep the car.

My best friend bought a white 2013 pre-owned A6 Prestige last year.

I hear what your saying too. My buddy was blown away when i showed him the rear bumper on the Z.

He said he walked around it and gave it a good going over. I would not have noticed it myself until I got down to polishing it.

I found a spot on the front drivers side quarter panel too but I didn't want to break his heart too much in one day, it was about 12" x 12' so I let it go and didn't point it out. He'll never see it.

Have you washed it yet? Hopefully you don't find that there are a lot of fine scratches and swirls filled with glaze.

Yep, thats how I found this problem on the bumper. Other than the bumper I was pretty happy with the condition of the paint.

I used to see this at the body shop I used to work at, some dealers will hire a company that operates out of a van to fix scrapes/scratches in bumpers in order to save a few bucks, and they'll spot-spray them in the dealership's parking lot. Most all of the repairs I've seen them do have some form of non-adhered clearcoat overspray, and most won't sand/polish out and end up needing a proper respray. They basically count on nobody looking that close. I wish you the best of luck with this.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I'm thinking this was probably one of those deals.

Oh man. Honestly, I really had my heart set on a white one. I've owned nothing, but black cars for the past 15 years and after the last one...I told myself I was done. I couldn't find a white 2013 or 2014 that was certified pre owned and had low mileage. This black one popped up and I drove the 500 miles to go get it a few days later.

I got it a week ago today, So I'm not sure what the dealership would say. Maybe its worth a shot?

You have nothing to lose that's for sure. I'd base it upon the fact the bumper has been repainted and it was not noted in the carfax.

Yeah my buddy, he worked the local dealerships for 4-5 months before he got his White A-6 Prestige. He worked them over and got a great deal. He's actually a customer of mine too, so I know how he works his vendors LOL.
