Shortly after I purchased my used 06 Buick Lucerne, I noticed a strange defect around the passenger headlight. It diminishes (disappears) with waxing, but inevitably returns.

Can I get some help understanding what it is and how to fix it? It's super unsightly at times!

My first guess is the start of oxidation...
Input?

That is super strange looking. It's hard to see in the picture but it looks similar to a high spot in a coating. Do you have a da polisher and a light finish polish you could hit it with to see if a very light combination removes the defect? Or even a light polish by hand.

Plus one on Davids post
It's actually no more visible in person, it's so weird!

I do not have a polisher, but I can sure hit it with some wicked elbow grease.

Any recommendations on easy to get polish?

Meguiars Ultimate compound and polish can be found in Walmart or any auto stores there basically meguiars m105 and m205

Cool, thanks!
I'll definitely give that a try tomorrow and report back with the results

this looks like like a spot repair that did not get blended in. the faint line you see is the clearcoat layer on top of the orginal. open the hood an look closely at the edge and see if you see a edge or tape line or maybe a little damage under the hood. jonathan

I was thinking a small repair and poor color match myself.

Also Does headlight look newer then the other side could be tell tale sign of front passenger side hit.

It hasn't been in any accidents and both headlights are of the same age (had to restore them not too long ago).

I was thinking repaint like bobby, but you mentioned you seeing it when waxing, I am thinking it's some chemical damage to the clearcoat. Try polishing the hood to see if it helps.
