What is the feeling about steam cleaners?

I like the fact that they show the steamer being used on a dirty car, unlike some of the other wonder tools out there, which shows true practical use. However, I'd like to have seen a close up of the paint surface after the hot water bath, but before wiping started, to really see how clean it got the paint surface. For me, I'd probably use it to get the grime off and stop at that point (i.e. no wiping with rags). I would use this in my garage. I can see how this tool could used to make money.

I hope this is the guys personal car because around the 2:44 mark he picked up a rag directly from the ground and starting wiping that door - a scary scene if I were the owner of the car, however, I've seen worse at the local car wash though. If it were my business, I would not show this on a video.

I think your on to something. I can attest that the Optima will work without it, but hey why not be extra careful. Plus either way your being way better to the environment.

I've played with the Optima and it's nice, however I feel it's limited. For much less money (if you carefully shop used) you can get a ThermaKleen pressure washer/steam cleaner combined. I have 1300 psi hot or cold (enough to run a foam gun and just about anything else vehicle related) and can crank the temp knob up to produce more steam than the Optima.
