What is the longest lasting wax?

Yep, some of the WOWA Sealants are really great, was turned onto them by Dave435 some years back (Ultima Paint Guard Plus)

Real time savers in tight spots, door jambs.

Here in NM, where rust is pretty much non-existent on vehicles, one can get away with lesser products to protect out of the way areas.

But if I was living back in Chicago, where they throw a metric ton of salt at every intersection in the winter snows, I'd probably coat every square inch of a vehicle with the most durable coating I could find. Hell, I'd be air-brushing it to the undercarriage! That bad it is there. LOL

How I can tell you from living there for 44 years, I've had vehicles literally rust from the inside out. And that was with vehicles with the worthless Rusty Jones, and Ziebart applied. Threw more wax on those vehicles than the paint on them was worth, and still could not stop the onslaught of body rust.

Prior to dipping body panels in a galvanic solution, in 5 years in the windy city, you could be "Freddy Flinstoning" through the floor boards on anything you drove.

I am in Cave Creek - I will be holding this off till when it cools down - almost impossible for me to do this during the summer - the paint alone takes hours to cool down even in the garage lol

October :) That is the best time for doing any kind of waxing. I do once in Oct/Nov and once in Mar/Apr.

I have a infrared thermometer and when I have tried to take readings of my hood and body in June/Jul, it easily is 200 deg + F. Even the friggin water that comes out of the pipe is over 100 degrees.

I am looking into a product that claims it will last over a year easily and there are several user reviews positive on the product and it looks damn easy to apply and remove. I don't know if I can mention the name since AG does not carry it but if you are curious, message me and I'll whisper which one :) You can do your own dd and find out if that would suit your needs.

I am loving my Collinite 845. I'm now using it on my customers vehicles. I did a two step paint correction on this Mercedes topped with Collinite 845!

Hey CC268,

McKee's 37 Paint Coating just went on sale for $27.99. Then add 20% off and you got a steal for a paint coating!

Lucky timing!

Thanks for the heads up - unfortunately I always get killed with shipping charges here at AG...it is almost $13 for shipping which kind of sucks...I am an Amazon Prime member so I end up buying a lot of stuff through there...I think I will order the coating and Mckee coating pre prep polish as well

You can have best of both worlds, throw on McKee's 37 Paint Coating and if you enjoy waxing your car like I do, get something like PBL Synergy that will actually bond to a coating properly for a wetter shine on top of a coating's glassy gloss. I'm a huge fan of that combination.

Interesting...can I use Collinite 845 or HD Speed on the McKees Paint Coating? I just ordered the paint coating and pre cleaner from AG

I don't think HD Speed is meant to be an LSP, at least in the context of this thread. Prolly better off with Collinite.

That would make sense...that seems like a great combo to me...McKee Paint Coating and then I can top it off with Collinite 845 every few months...that would he's very easy way to maintain my paint

Don't know if you'd necessarily want to use Collinite in that heat and sun, I've read a few comments from people using Collinite in the super hot conditions with the LSP not lasting that long.

Well it's better than nothing...no way I'm spending $150 for synergy lol

I hear ya, I would've waited to get it bit by bit but my girlfriend got me for me for my birthday sooo... good deal lol

You already have a good product in the Collinite 845. Like Mike says if you find a good product you like, use it and use it often. I wouldn't be too concerned about prep as if the paint looks good (too your satisfaction) then wax on. Waxes unlike coatings require less prep and can be layered with no problem (ie. You can put 5 coats of wax on top of each other and no problem except you are wasting product). I personally prefer to wax my car 4 times a year and it is a DD so I know it is protected. I have coated and like it, but more work than Collenite 845 application so rethinking my stategy. I'm not production detailer so time is not my highest priority (satifaction is).

Problem is that waxing 4 times a year here in Arizona is near impossible for me with the heat

And the wax probably wont last long in the AZ summer.

For real?
I use Collinite 476 and I live just up the highway from you. Or do you not consider C 476 a wax because it is really hybrid of Wax / Sealant.
I will also occasionally hit it with OCW after a wash.

Bit*h about this when I'm looking at sheets of ice on my truck in February. Lol!!

(Said with a jealous tone). ;)

I'm jealous your summers aren't as hot. But not jealous of your winters hehehe!

Winters are beautiful here. No snow at all and perfect temps. :D :D :D I know I know I'm not helping HAHAHA!

Well I've never tried 476. I'm just thinking that when it's 110+F outside, nothing will survive LOL!
