Real quick folks. 2014 Range Rover. Black. I thought it was just simple over spray. Nano mitt, normal clay, heavy clay didnt remove.

Upon inspection it seems that all the dots (horizontal surfaces only) are embedded or "pitting " Bottom line cant "remove" them. Swirls are gone but these remain. In the right light it looks in the coat and not on the coat.

Thanks folks.

Ryan

So is it stuck there?... polishing isn't so fun either. White pad and Griots correcting cream took all swirls out but left that junk. Lol

So does everyone agree that this is solvent pop? Not got a lot of experience with this. Called owner. Hes the 3rd owner. Carfax says a repaint of the rear but this is the hood. Owner doesnt know why that would be there.

9+ mill of paint. Looking close they aren't raised... concave not convex. Little tiny dimples everywhere.

Seems sanding and the buffing entire hood is the option unless repainted.

Just trying to figure out if we can help him. Would be a great referral if we did do his vehicle. Knows a lot of folks. Idk.

Thanks in advance folks.

10mil=250 microns.... That panel for sure repainted.... I've worked on some new cars with 150-170 microns but never anything over 200 microns. Wetsanding will only make it shallower but will never be able to remove it. Touching up over it will pass 5ft test but still noticeable. Only a repaint will solve the problem.

Thanks so much. What we figured. Might suggest he repaint the hood. The mystery is why so much paint if the carfax just reported rear repair. Idk. Unless it was not reported...?

Thanks again buddy.

carfax is a good starting point/tool but won't reveal 100% everything about the car's history.
