OMG people just flat out can't drive anymore!!!!!!!

I have a 3.0 mile commute to work. That's it. You think, hey, that's awesome! What could go wrong in 3 miles?

I'll tell you.... PEOPLE!!!!!!

In the timeframe of about a week, I've had 2 different drivers come to a complete stop in the road for no apparent reason!!!!!!!!!! Just stop!
And then there's the same drivers and others doing 15 under the speed limit!!!!!

Seriously, if you are that afraid then perhaps you should not be driving.

ARGH!

Or hogging the left lanes going less than the posted speed limit, and merging or turning without looking. Out of all the states/countries I have driven in, Destin, Florida and Huntsville, Alabama are the worst I’ve seen.

The issue is people don’t care about others anymore just about what they are doing...

:whs: exactly, that whole self entitled me, me , me attitude.

Which is generally texting or talking on the phone...

We were literally just having that conversation here at work yesterday and this morning about how bad drivers are lately.

Crazy maneuvers just to get 1 or 2 spots ahead in traffic, passing on shoulders, and yes - the white-knuckle-going-15mph-because-it-snowed/will snow/any weather.

My biggest pet peeve lately is people driving in crummy weather/pitch black with no lights on. The other day it was overcast and freezing rain (followed by a good snow of big fat snowflakes), I'd say maybe 20% of cars had lights on. Had a driver following me the other morning at 6am on an unlit road with no lights on (not even DRLs). I tried every sequence of blinking lights at her, completely clueless.

I know it'd drive enthusiasts crazy, but for the vast majority of civilian drivers out there - I think Automatic headlights should stay on until the car is turned off if: The wipers are used or the light sensor turns the lights on (no more on/off going under bridges/tunnels). Or even they just are always on when the switch is in the auto position. Sorry - Rant: /off.

It didn't seem like either person who stopped in the middle of the road were on a phone.... they seemed genuinely concerned that something was going to happen to them!!!!!

I agree with everyone's statements here.... no lights, no turn signals, driving like they are terrified, hogging the left lane.... it's all makes me want to give up and not drive anymore! It's so difficult as someone who actually enjoys driving their vehicle to ENJOY driving their vehicle anymore. People seem to just think of cars as appliances and are just annoyed to have to get in it and drive- it's an inconvenience.

We can’t forget about all the Huntsville for those that slow to almost a near stop with only misting rain too. I still live here and within 6 months my wife and I were in 3 accidents near Governors (none were our fault...2 people rear ended us and one swerved into my lane and clipped his rear driver quarter panel on my front passenger fender)🤬.

And earlier this week my coworker was sitting at a light in the left turning lane..... someone going straight drifting into his lane and hit him head on.
This was 5 days after he bought a brand new Rubicon JL. No news yet if they are totaling his vehicle.

Being 1/2 Asian and 1/2 White at times when I am driving I am no longer interested in the road I am on, however, looking for Disneyland or Hollywood to no avail. The other times I turn into Ricky Bobby and I make Speed Racer look like a turtle!

I am a CONFLICTED individual!

From:
Hop Sing Wong and Ricky Bobby!

PS: I can tease my own kind since I am 1/2 Asian....Korean to be exact.....SOUTH KOREAN! If I have offended any snowflakes....oh well!

LOL

It could be that emergency braking, seriously! I've heard of these systems kicking in when garbage bags get blown infront of them, LOL!

Man, are you right Monica.

I find the same thing on the roads nowadays. Here's my thoughts:

It seems most people operating (I won't say "driving") a vehicle now pay it about as much attention as the latest fad on a magazine cover or FB trend. Here today, gone 15 seconds from now.

There are WAY more important things to concentrate on/pay attention to than hurling 2-3 tons of steel and glass down the road about 8 feet from others doing the same in the opposite direction.

I mean, how could their lives (or anyone else's) be as important as the text they just received? Actually taking the time to learn how a certain vehicle acts/reacts in certain road/weather conditions? Pfft! C'mon! I'll deal with that when the time comes. (Freezing solid when confronted with any issue on the road as you said).

And this sad truth is getting worse by the minute.

Going to mom's house for Thanksgiving, driving down a rural road, ie corn or bean fields and NO houses. Vehicle in front of us comes to a complete stop. Lost? U-turn? Nope. Driver puts vehicle in park, takes papers out from behind passenger side visor and proceeds to start reading. Some people’s children, I swear.

I'm glad to know its not just me!!!! I live in Athens but I work in Huntsville. There is a serious lack of driving ability and attentiveness. Combine that with a good dose of selfishness and it makes driving pretty infuriating some days.

That’s the saddest thing.... the only issue these people seem to have to confront is another vehicle in the opposite lane in THEIR lane doing the proper speed.

Just stopping for no reason in the road is super dangerous for everyone. Not sure why these people don’t realize this.

I do.

Rhymes with "door on". ;)

I have front and rear facing dash cams in both our vehicles for a reason.

How bout those that feel it's perfectly fine to do U turns where ever and whenever they want, without regard to the traffic in the other lanes needing to slow or move over?
