What is your favorite microfiber towel for waterless MAINTENANCE wash?

I used to absolutely hate waterless washes and I still don't do a ton BUT when I do I use TRC Pluffles. It's the only towel that I've used for WW that I actually liked.

I use it for rinseless/waterless washes. My understanding is it was specifically made for waterless wash use.

Was first released as a drying towel. Most waffle weaves were but this added a plushness not found in most waffle weaves. Hence the 16x24 and 20x40 sizes.

I too like the 16x16 for waterless washes. Just as good as the EE for rinseless. Larger size are great for drying with drying aid.

Been using Chinchillas for a while now and while they work great it makes for a hard time to see exactly where the dirt is on the towel after a wipe. Sure you can lift up or roll back the towel to expose the clean leading edge.

The problem arises when you have to stop for lunch, talk to someone, etc and come back and not remember which side you laid the towel down. Dirty side up, dirty side down, who knows. Especially after lunch. Im now on a quest to find white towels to mitigate this problem.

My go to is usually a EE from TRC. But I will damn near any MF I have when doing a waterless. My process when doing waterless is I use one side of the towel per swipe. Go through more MF’s this way, but I feel it greatly reduces the chance of marring. I have a few MF’s so I don’t mind 15-20 on a waterless.

Apart from drying, I really have no use for towels outside of the 300-400 gsm range. I'd probably use something along the lines of Poorboy DMTs, wipe with the plush side and buff off residue with the flat side. I think technique is more important, using plenty of towels, and a heavy saturation of waterless wash. Also having a light-colored towel so you can see buildup and a weave that releases all the dirt well when washed!

I like platinum pluffles for this reason as they are white and it’s easy to see the dirt. The eagle edgeless is also very easy to see dirt on lighter colors as well.

Do you use one towel for Waterless Wash and another towel for drying?

I am looking at the following, only wanting for use for waterless washes.
Do these have a fluffy side and a flat side?
Am I missing out on 4 sides as fluffy is the best for waterless washes?

Cobra Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towel, 16 x 16 inches
Cobra Super-Plush Deluxe Microfiber Towel is 100% microfiber all the way to the edge! Our softest microfiber detailing & buffing towel.
Cobra Deluxe Ultra 600 Microfiber Towel, microfiber buffing towel, microfiber drying towel, detail towel, micro fiber

There are so many choices of towels.

Whatever you decide on, the lightest color would let you see the dirt more easily.

My favorite is the Shine & Buff Waterless Wash Towel.

Do these have the same nap on both sides?
Do you know why some have long nap on one side and short nap on the other.?
I normally use one towel for wipe and separate for drying.
I'm after a dedicated waterless wash towel.

Just bought the Everest 1100 GSM white towel from TRC.

Haven't used it yet, but extremely plush and greet construction. They do have a soft edge.

I like the everest alot for final buff but did not like them for waterless or rinseless. Like the pluffles and EE better for those duties.

The Everest is an awesome towel however

Do you use one towel for Waterless Wash, 1st wipe and another towel for drying?
I normally use one towel for wipe and separate (same type of towel) for drying.

I am looking at the following, wanting a dedicated towel using for MAINTENANCE waterless washes only.

Cobra Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towel, 16 x 16 inches
Shine & Buff Waterless Wash Towel
Chinchilla Microfiber Buffing Cloth, microfiber detailing towel

Why do some have long nap on one side and short nap on the other.?

If I were doing a MAINTENANCE wash using a waterless wash - then I would do second option you listed.

Thing is - I rarely do maintenance washes. Almost all my washing is PREP washing.

Cobra Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towel, 16 x 16 inches

Out of the three options you gave, I would go with the purple Cobra Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towels - 16" x 16"

Why? These are a tick stouter than the other two you listed. The other two are really soft and fluffy, I just prefer a more stout towel for wiping.

The above does seem to be the logical conclusion. A fluffy longer nap being better able to trap dirt IN the nap versus trap it between the nap and the paint - as in the nap of a less fluffy nap or flat weave nap.

I have know idea. It has never made sense to me.

An argument can be made that it's better to have too many choices than too few choices.

Mike,

A more stout towel wiping - as in wiping on the WW. And what about the final "once over pass?"

Hi Mike thanks

Are these exactly the same on both sides (use all x8 sides)?
Are they also good suitable for final wipe (buff dry) for waterless wash?

Are Cobra Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towel, 16 x 16 inches exactly the same as Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towels 12 Pack but just bulk buying.
I need x24

MAINTENANCE wash - do you mean once a week and only wash the car gets?

Thanks again

The purple Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towels have a FLAT weave side and a FLUFFY side.

The above two links go to the same TYPE of towel, just different quantities.

Maintenance wash is not a measure of how often, it's a measure of the condition of the car.

When or if a car is perfect, then you do a maintenance wash.

I'll be back in the office next Thursday, offline right now for the SDC - traveling back to Stuart, Florida.
