what is your favorite trim product ?

Time for an update!

So i got poorboy's trim restorer and i found it was crap! I just tried ultima tire and trim guard and it does make the trim look a bit better but it doesn't make it look that much darker.

How is black WOW ?

did you clean your trim before you tried each product? theres plenty of reviews on black wow on the site, check em out!. im on the search for a trim restorer/protectant that drys to the touch, dont run and leave run marks, and dont drip on paint. ill wait a little while longer to see more postings. back to black drys to touch, looks great, but runs when it rains and see streaks! AG needs to stock dodo trim sealant that's one i want to try.

Heyy

Yeah everything was cleaned before I tried them!

My dream product would be one that :

1- Restores faded black trim
2- Does not streak when it rains
3- Water repellent

Then you should get GTechniq C4. It will last the longest out of all of them too.

Wolf Chemicals Nano Trim Sealant.
Megs Ultimate Black trim Restorer

Those come to mind if you need more darkening than UTTG.

Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant. I used to be in the poorboys camp, that is now my #2

:iagree:

doing a test with the C4 and comparing it to a few others on the same car. checking looks and longevity.

Ultima is a great product, but I still haven't found the sweet spot for application. The applicator that comes with the product works well for larger areas, but it's really hard to get it to apply to tight areas without having to tape up.

Any tips? (sorry to hijack Im the MAN)

How does PERL stack up? After Corey's review, I feel like it is very comparable to UTTG

I get a 10pack of the Foam brushes at harbor freight for 3bucks..comes in sizes of 3" 2" and 1" multipack..they work great..put a few drops on and paint it onto your trim and its nice and clean

I use 1/2- 5/8 paint brushes from Michaels, a craft store.

I forgot to include this in my original post, but I had a difficult time with foam brushes too. The size is right for application, but it goes on much much thicker - to the point were it actually runs off of the trim and onto the paint.

Originally I poured some UTTG into a coffee cup, dabbed the brush, and applied like I was painting. Perhaps applying a small dab on the tip of the brush instead of dipping it will allow for a lighter application?

P.S. I got my brushes from Home Depot, but they sell them in the home improvement section at Wal Mart as well :)

I find that foam brushes get easily saturated and floppy when wet. The plastic support dosn't extend very far. That's why I use inexpensive artist brushes.

UTTG is my favorite trim product. It outperforms every other trim product imo (not including C4 $$$)

PERL is much cheaper then UTTG and UTTG cheaper than WGETS.

PERL darkens pretty badly faded textured trim more than UTTG does.

On tires I would use 2 coats PERL (1:1) over UTTG on a garaged vehicle (my sky) 8 times out of ten because of how black and beautiful they look. I've been using perl on tires period lately. It looks good for a couple weeks on outside 24/7 daily drivers in my experience. It's durability on tires seems to be in line with the best quality tire products but I like the look better. UTTG will last longer on tires but I am liking the darker look with a hint of gloss that PERL gives.

PERL can be used on interior as well.

So, I think UTTG is the best trim product in general and PERL is a jack of all trades and master of one.
