What it looks like to go to SEMA 2017 by Mike Phillips

Thought I would share what it's like to go to the 2017 SEMA show with all our forum members that cannot attend and/or have not ever attended. This story will be different than some of you expect as myself and my co-works are going to SEMA to work the Autogeek booth... that's a LOT different than going to SEMA as a visitor to see the show.

First picture is the clock on the wall of my office. It's now 3:00am.

I picked up Yancy at 2:47am and now we're waiting for Bobby, Andre and Tommy. Tommy is driving us down in the Competition Ready Van and then coming back to Stuart.

Stay tuned...

Safe travels! Thanks for the SEMA thread. I was getting worried there wasn't going to be one this year...

On my way to Milwaukee now. Be in Vegas by 330. Let the fun begin.

NICE! Super jealous. You guys need to have a contest for someone to go with you next year!

Fun to follow this thread and see the sema from your view.
Safe travel!

We just de-boarded and now re-boarded our same jet. Spirit Airlines is a zero amenity airline.

A few more hours on the air and we will be on Las Vegas.

Then we get herded like cattle in the lines waiting for a taxi.

The experience I share will be one of attending SEMA to work the booth - not party down or experience the actual show.

When I tell people I’m going to SEMA they usually say something like,

You’re lucky

The envision walking the show and taking on all the sights. That’s a normal thing for someone to think. But that’s not the reality of going to SEMA to work in a booth.

Having worked many boat shows over the last two decades I have some idea of what you're dealing with. Setting up the booth is a pain but so is dragging 25 boats to the show and setting them up. No time to wander about just sell, sell, sell from opening to closing. It gets old quickly, I feel your pain Mike.

Yup- my company is there every year. The ones who go come back exhausted. It's a lot of long days on your feet.

Mike, thanks for "taking" us with you via your postings. I enjoy seeing stuff like that. And appreciate the time you're giving us knowing the amount of work you and the crew from Auto geek
have to go through...

Thank You very much to all of you for doing this.

Tom

Just landed at LAS - it’s 10:40am Vegas time. That would be 1:40pm Florida time. Been up since 2:00am.

Hope none of us catch whatever half a dozen people are coughing into the cabin

:)

I always bring a mask when flying.
