I haven't been very active on the forums recently, here's why-

(I intended to use Auto Stitch to make two panoramic pics, but the program is not cooperating...)

I already had the Mac Pro desktop and monitor, had to put the box's in the pic though :D

2- Sony HXR-NX5U cameras

2- Sony RM-1BP Remote Commander

1- 17" Macbook Pro, i7

1- Matrox MX02LE w/ MAX

1- Final cut Studio 3

Lots- Accessory's, software, HDD's, battery's, memory cards, cables etc. (Not all pictured)

1- iPhone 4, well that's just for me... :D

My family owned/operated video company has made the change to High Definition! Since I'm getting closer to taking over completely, I've been in charge of making this work. I sold an old camera (was my best camera, Sony PDW-510) and a video switcher on eBay and ordered all the new stuff from B&H Photo.

This is nothing like the change I made from S-video tape to DVD about a decade ago, that change consisted of getting a DVD recorder and blank DVD's, everything else still worked.

The switch to HD meant that EVERYTHING I own is garbage! Cameras, cables, monitors, recording device, media, computer hardware, editing software, etc. etc. etc. everything is new and different. Not to mention my whole work flow, conversions, file types, raid hard drive setups, calibrated monitoring... PHEW! It's a lot to wrap your brain around!

I have delivered my first Blu-Ray video's, free of charge, to the owner's of the theater company's that hire me to record their play's. I come out for free, and sell copy's to the family's.

I plan to give every DVD order a free Blu-Ray to promote future Blu-Ray sales. If a family doesn't have a blu-ray player they'll have to ask friends and in turn create a little hype for my company. Plus, once you go HD there is no turning back (for me at least).

It has been quite the "slow season", not much work on the calendar but man have I been busy!

Very cool - Good work Dave! Thats a lot of fancy toys! errr... I mean tools!!

I use that Sony at work also. Great cam!! If you havent played with it yet it is awesome. Of course Final Cut and Magic Bullet make the magic happen. Good luck with everything.

Wow, nice stash. I have slowly been switching the household over to apple.

Just got our second iMac and the laptop is next. 30 years of DOS/Windows going out the door in my house.

I heard the entire movie Eat Pray Love was edited in Final Cut Pro. I am much more of a photo guy then video.

Have fun.

Thanks guys! It's been fun learning all the new stuff, I'm always anticipating, "When's my next shoot!" so I can play with all the gear. :D

Little update-
I attended the VMI Equipment Show 2010, and found the last major piece of equipment that I HAVE to have, an HD Video Switcher. The Panasonic AW-HS50N, I had been looking at the Data Video SE-2000 HD video switcher, but didn't really want it for multiple reasons... So I'm very excited to get the Panasonic unit, compact, seems road worthy, features I want, less expensive and I've had great experiences with Panasonic Switchers over the years. I'm currently recording each camera separate and mixing the video post production via Final Cut... Not the normal work flow! Too much extra work! :work:

Thought I'd share my Website which I've newly overhauled (but still needs major mork), Puget Sound Video. I pretty much just removed all the content and replaced it with only my new HD work (and had to learn Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 in the process). I've been recording the MIT Venture Lab NW for several years now, The Cleantech Open was very interesting (check out Aquapulser, I want it for my little turbo 1.8 :D), Rosehill Farewell is a project I am currently working on with the Mayor and a personal friend, Sanford J. Wright Jr. M.D. . I haven't had a Dance Recital yet (a large portion of my work), which I'm really looking forward to seeing the final results in HD on Blu-ray, but I have to have the HD Switcher, I do sooo many fades in a dance show!

My other site, Puget Sound Video still has old SD stuff on it... Thanks for looking!

Dave, good to see you around! Looks like you've been learning a lot. Keep up the great work!
