I'm looking at just buying a canopy and permanently putting it on my driveway since my garage isn't big enough to house my Camaro. Is this even possible to do ie a permanent canopy?

I don't live in any homeowner's association or anything like that so I'm free to do what I want in regards to the canopy.

Also, is there a brand or some specific type of canopy that will be able to handle Florida storms?

10" in one day is not entirely uncommon around here.

As for size, I was thinking somewhere around 10 feet by 20 feet ie 10 ft. x 20 ft. Pop-Up Canopy with Green Cover

Thanks for any help!

I think I'd be more concerned with wind lift than rain load.

Make sure you do a good job of anchoring the canopy. You might consider some type of hook or eye-bolt imbedded in concrete and sunk in the ground to tie down to.

There are some temporary garages that are sold that would be good for you. On my way to work I see several houses in one area that use them since they don't have garages. It's been 4 or 5 years and they all seem to hold up.

One house used concrete blocks to weigh it down. The others seem to be tied down to stakes driven into the ground. I've paid attention to them because I have a similar situation as you do

Unfortunately, it seems like a temporary garage would be pretty hard to wash my car in using the MTM foamer plus it would be real hard to see :(

I bought a 12x24 from Tractor Supply and anchored with 50lbs of concrete in each 5 gallon pail I installed to each down leg, that's 400lbs of concrete and the Florida winds still lifted and threw the canopy 25 feet at about a foot and a half off the ground!
I no longer use a canopy!

I got one of the Costco canopies. I think it's 12 X 20
I anchor mine using 24" long screw into the ground rods. Which I then hose clamp to the legs on the canopy. I had to drill holes through my driveway to allow the screw to bite into the dirt below. The strongest winds I have measured here in West Los Angeles were 46mph. The canopy was held down perfectly. I got the rods from McMaster Carr a few years ago.
And the fabric of the canopy has held up against the sun without any tears for six years so far.

Im assuming your garage doesnt fit your camaro because there is too much stuff in there? If thats the case, wouldnt it be easier to purchase a small shed to store most of it, and use your garage for your car?

Florida storms go from mild to very wild, that said, a mortar and brick building should last a while.....

My Camaro literally doesn't fit. Well it does, but then I have about 1 inch to get out and I'm not a fan of hitting my door against walls :(

Temporary sucks IMO. Is there no way to build or at least add on to your garage? Maybe add another 12' section ORRRRR maybe build a kind of lean-to off the side of the existing garage for your Camaro?

It's actually just the house I use while I'm in college (my parents own it). I hope to be in dental school where I am (Gainesville, Fl) for another four years, but until I get accepted, no long term investment is being given thought to.

I agree though, the best would be something I could add onto the house.
