What motor oil do you all use for your personal vehicles?

I have been using Royal Purple without regrets for 2 years now

So now that I no longer have the Mustang, I can finally do all my own maintenace. It was very difficult before because the Mustang sat so low it was impossible to get underneath it.

Now w/ the Sentra, (and being a 4 cyl.) it makes it a whole new ball game.

I'm thinking of Mobile 1 Full Synthetic at 5,000 miles intervals. Does this sound ok?

I don't think it's worth paying the extra for the extended life full synthetic which is supposedly good for 15,000 miles. Even if I got this, I would never go that long w/out an oil change.

Also, what's a good oil filter to get?
I have a 2004 Monte Carlo and also use Mobil 1 Full synthetic. I did alot of research and found that the Mobil1 oil filter is one of the best one's on the market as well so it's also what I use. As for changing interval, anywhere between 4k and 6k is when I do mine.

S2000 Mobile 1 10W-30
E46 M3 Castrol 10W-60
TSX- who cares.....

^^ Off all places to find you Tex.. in an oil thread:righton:

I use MC Syn Blend 5w20

I was running M1 5w20 but after doing some reading on bitog.com on MC I decided to switch
Exactly what I was going to recomend, MC is one of the best syn blends you can buy for the money ($2.32@wally world). MC, Puralator Pure1, Wix, Napa Gold are all very good oil filters.

Mobil 1 or pennzoil platinum with a Pure1 filter....both oils get great ratings and also the pure1 filter when cut open showed as good if not better filter media and construction as the Mobil 1 filter

Thanks! I thought I was going to be the only one using Pennzoil Platinum. I just started using it on my Z06 upon a recommendation. So far so good. I know Pennzoil has a bad rap, but this oil has lived up to my expectations

This was for this Summer. I may switch back to the Mobil-1 05-30w in the winter

I am running Amsoil 5 - 30 with an oil-bypass filter system and I am seeing about 9000 miles before the oil starts to break down and stops doing its job. I send my oil every 5000 or 6000 miles to Blackstone Labs for an oil analysis to see how my engine is wearing and when to safely change the 18 quarts oil the engine needs.

For some reason I hate getting my oil changed. I think it's because the cheap place I used to go to was always trying to sell me something or tell me I had an oil leak or something else wrong. So now that I bought a newer car I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic and plan to change it every six months myself, which will run about 8k miles.

Ok, I think I'm just going to go w/ Mobile 1 full synthetic (not the extended performance full synthetic).
I think every 5,000 miles should be perfect (although the owner's manual says every 3,750).

I guess I'll go w/ a matching Mobile 1 oil filter then. Anyone know where to get these?

I go 10k miles with Mobil 1, and right now I'm probably 7-8k with castrol syntec with STP Filter. I'm going back to Mobil 1, and a Purolator Pureone filter.

Whitethunder, I've seen Mobil 1 oil filters in Pep Boys down in SoCal in San Diego area. I'm not sure about your area, I'd give Pep Boys a call first.

Kragen, Auto Zone, Pep Boys.

Mobil 1 full synthetic in our last five cars. first oil change at 3 to 5k, then every 5k after that.

Mobil 1 and a napa gold i get the M1 from wally word for just under 25.00 and the filter for around 8.00 at napa for my 2005 Honda Accord v6. Dont forget the oil plug washer. A shop around the corner charges me 10.00 if I bring them the parts and oil. They tell u for insurance reasons that you cant be in the bay but I drive it up get out and leave the parts infront of the car and stand past the gold chain and watch them put it on. I also know the guy who owns it so the guys that work there know if they screw me they will not be happy.

Royal Purple and Napa Gold filters in my last two cars. Sometimes you have to look for the Royal Purple but my local Napa carries it now.

I use Motorcraft 5w20 Synthetic Blend. I think Havoline makes it.

I use Mobil Clean 5000 5W-30 for both my Corolla and Honda with OEM filters for both.
