Hi
I'm a new member here and I enjoy reading all the good info here
I just purchase a griots garage da 6 and 3 inch
I'm looking to order a 5in backing plate and some 5.5 pads
I own a 2012 Mercedes s550 that I use for transportation business
There is no way I can hand wash this car every day so I use a decent soft cloth car wash
The paint has lot of swirls
I read here that mazerna compound 400 followed by 4000 should do the job for that type of paint
My questions
What pads to use for each compound?
I'm thinking to buy
Cyan hydro tech ,orange ccs and Orange flats for sf400
Tangerine hydro, white ccs for sf4000
What about sealant?
Wolfgang pair with gray, red or gold ccs?
Thank you so much !
Any idea of compound /polish/sealant/pads will be huge help since this is my first time polishing a car:)

Coincidence! I will be working on a 2014 Merc Benz 350 tomorrow night. I have the Flex 3401 and I use Menzerna FG400 and SF4500. The pads that I use (in my case) are the 6.5 " Lake Country Hybrid Pads Orange for FG400, White Pad for SF4500 or in your case SF4000. I will use the Red pad for sealant and the Gold pad for wax. The Black Pads should be about the same as the reds and golds. I prefer the reds and golds.

The sealant that I will be using is Menzerna Powerlock and the Wax Pinnacle Souveran.

If you are using another brand DA it should be about the same. As for the Hydro techs I do have them, however, the Lake Country Hybrid Pads are designed for my Flex 3401.

I have a 2015 C300 coming next week for a post-delivery inspection, whatever it needs, and coating. Hoping it just needs SF4000/White Hybrid. :)

If you're using a standard random orbital, like the GG, Menzerna + Hydrotech pads seem like a match made for each other.

FG 400 + Cyan is a really potent combination. They don't need too much product, pressure, or speed on my PC, and years worth of car wash swirls are erased.

Last weekend I used PF2500 paired with Tangerine Hydrotechs to clean up post winter car wash swirls, and general haze from the finish.

After I tried the Hydrotech foam, I was hooked. I also really like the green and blue Buff and Shine foams which are the polar opposite of the hydro foams. I find they work better with non diminishing abrasives, where the Hydro seem to work well with both.

I just did an E550 last weekend. Paint was pretty good but minor swirls from carwashes. It was not cerami-clear paint. I used Menzerna PF2500 and a white LC 5.5" flat pad. GG6 on speed 4.5. Four passes with decent downward pressure followed by 2 lighter passes to finish the buffing cycle.

I would recommend using flat pads for DAT products. The CCS pads can hold product in the pockets and can get reintroduced during the buffing cycle which means they won't break down properly and can install haze or micro-marring.

Speed 4.5 is also what I used on the PC when I had the Tangerine H20 + PF2500.
