What pressure washer?

"The commercial grade brass pump is designed with non-corrosive, tempered steel pistons, and is the only self-priming pump in the industry that can siphon from standing water or a collected water source."

Nice!!! Thanks!

Believe you FOUND IT :xyxthumbs:

And Home Depot has it on sale right now for $319 and free shipping. I'm gonna go for it. Thanks OP for starting this thread and everyone else for chiming in. :xyxthumbs:

Wait! Ya lost me....what pump is on sale for that price?

The Kranzle I looked at was 600+!
Ah wait...the Karcher? I've got it up here on the web. Now that's what I'm talkin about! That's the kinda pump I need. I wonder how long it would last tho?

Yeah, Karcher. Sorry about the confusion. :)

If you search around they seem to be going for $450 ~ $490 so $320 seems like a great deal. I also wonder how it'll hold up. We'll see.

Small portable generator. Honda has a lot of great ones. They use very little gas. As a gas pressure washer will go thro a tank in 20 minutes. Plus you have the constant starting and stopping it to detail and wash.

Plus, if your going to be starting a detail business, you need electricity for your polisher, lights etc.

So buy a portable generator( small, quiet one) and problem solved.
Are you just speculating here, or do you run a business with this greenworks unit. I see them getting good reviews and I'm curious as to how hard you have run yours and for how long? I'm looking to add a smaller electric PW to my mix of equipment but I am really reluctant to go with a disposable unit.

My Honda powered General pump PW will run for hours on a small tank of gas (maybe 1/2 gallon or so) but it's way too heavy for lifting in and out of my van for doing mobile work. I already have the generator but need to pick up the right pressure washer. I'm thinking of skipping the box store units and going with a Landa electric unit. Not yet sure what I'll do.

Yes the Karcher is pricey here in Canada at the local Canadian Tire. I have to go in myself and check what model of course because the guy on the phone wasn't too bright and gave me the store sku number instead of the Karcher model number!

For that price I'd grab it. Worst case scenario it dies in a few years u buy a new general pump to bolt up to it. No biggie.

Can't find it online or in store at HD in Canada. Only the USA.
I'd consider zippin to buffalo HD to grab one even.

I'm in the same boat, shopping for a pressure washer. If the Kracher really works as advertised, effectively drawing water from a tank, that would be fantastic.

Thanks for the video 215detailing...after viewing, I've become even more interested in a kracher pressure washer.

Just wanted to post an update.

I never did get the Karcher. I got a deal on a brand new Generac 2700PSI 2.3GPM that had some pretty good reviews online. $150 off of Craigslist and it had never even had oil or gas in it. The Instructions specifically state to have a source w/ at least 30psi. I figure it was cheap enough that I'll just try to run it gravity fed (haven't tried yet) and see what happens.

On another note, a buddy of mine was in town for the holidays visiting his family. We've also been talking about ideas on a gravity fed pressure washer in the past. After learning about Karchers self priming features here, I told him about it. Well he found the pumps online for $130 w/ free ship. When he was here we went to Harbor Freight and got the $99 6.5HP Predator engine. All I can say is what a great little setup he has now and all for less than $240. We were messing with it all day and the self priming feature is awesome.

I'm thinking if the pump goes bad on the Generac I just got, I'll get the Karcher pump for $130 and I'll still only have $280 invested total. If I'd have known how cheap the Karcher pump by itself was I probably would have just got that and the Predator engine to begin with. Anyways, the Karcher pump is awesome and thanks to all who recommended Karcher.

I have no good info to add here other then a little basic plumbers know how... On page 1 it was said people are building 4" platforms water pressure works off atmospheres the 1st one is from 0'-12' so unless your going higher than 12 it's pointless. Another note pressure will not increase by volume. But will increase by the hole u put in the bottom of the tank. Ie starting with a 4" stepping to a 3.5.... Then a 3 so on down the hose it won get u 30psi but will help

Another note pressure will not increase by volume.

Thanks! Can you explain this one? Tell me if I'm understanding this right... As an example: If I got a 125 gallon tank, the pressure will not be any different if it's got 25 gallons water or 100 gallons of water?

that is 100% correct. it doesn't make sense but it does make sense... ill do my best to explain...
pressure works on the weight of water trying to force itself through an opening... so lets take your 100 gallon water tank where the lowest point of the tank is 0'0" and you have a 1" hole you will have 7psi of water coming through the hole... the only way to increase that water pressure without a charge tank or a pump would be to decrease the size of the hole... lets say to 1/2" making 12psi ( not sure of how much the pressure will increase cant find a chart but im working on it!) but your pressure will not change if you have a 100 gallon or 1000 gallon tank... its going to change based on the opening... the only other change that can adjust pressure is atmosphere levels... and if i remember correctly atmosphere 1 yields 7psi, atmosphere 2 is 14.7psi ( atmosphere 2 starts at 12' ) so for your mobile detailing problem... you will always be in atmosphere 1.

Interesting :) Thanks for taking time to post! I'll have to check out the videos when I get home.

As the OP I wanted to update you all on my progress thus far on a pressure washer purchase.

Thanks to all who replied and gave input, it really helped. I am planning a mobile service come April, operating out of a pick up truck for now, until maybe I move into a van in a season or so. I got some great advice and ended up looking for a Dewalt pressure washer with the GX160 engine but WOW too expensive up here in Canada.

SO I ended up locating a used GX160 in great shape that had been freshly tuned up. Grabbed that for $200 and my next purchase will be a CAT pump with the relief valve that recirculates the water when the pump is running but you are not squeezing the trigger on the wand. Looks like Northern Tools has the one I am after for about $329 or so.

Ill end up having to buy hose, a reel and gun to make it complete....and of course a tank. Not sure what I am gonna do there.

My original plan was to keep everything stored under my tonneau cover, therefore I would need a low profile tank (75 Gal or so). Ill post pics when its all together.

I went electric instead of gas. In my tacoma I carry a 45 gal tank, optima blue top, flojet pump, rapid reel, which feeds a karcher PW

the pump only turns on where the valve is opened at the end (on demand pump). The blue top is for powering the flojet pump only and it is not hard wired to the truck (although wiring to the alt with an isolator switch may be a wiser idea). I just try to hook up the battery charger every now and again to juice it up

I See you use a KARCHER PRESSURE WASHER as well, so how do you power your P.W. I see No generator

I use a gas and a Kranzel. I suggest you get a good pressure washer with a cat pump with a return line. Heat will kill a pump.

Sound like a nice setup - questions which KARCHER PUMP (model#) and any photos or video of unit in use?
