What products do you recommend for DA Polishing

I have an HF DA Polisher, i am looking to order a back plate and some pads as well as compound and polish.

I am leaning towards an Astro back plate of a Lake Country

I have been looking at the Lake Country 5.5" flat pads. I am looking at getting 3 orange pads and 3 white pads. Would you recommend something different for a brand new car as well as a car with light swirls?

I am also looking at the M205 or McKee Fast Polish as well as the McKee Fast Compound as i have seen many times of complaints about the 105 dusting a lot. Any other suggestions of user friendly compounds / polish.

As a final product i plan to use the McKee 37 Coating

I am looking for suggestions / input for any of the above.

I always recommend a new user start with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Meguiar's 205 polish. Both have an easy learning curve and are very available and inexpensive. Once you get more experience, you can always branch out to other brands later, but you'll never regret having UC and 205 in your arsenal.

The product that I would recommend for DA polishing is a better buffer.
 
Any of the Menzerna Combos are great. The following are great too. Jescar combo (it's Menzerna product). McKee's, Pinnacle and many more. AGO sells them all...but I would look at their combo products ie Compound/Polish combo

That's a good start. You can use either pad with a polish, depending on how much correction you need. I'd add a couple waxing pads too, so you're prepared to do something other than a coating
Once again, you can always add to your collection later. Keep it simple to start.

I've had great experiences with LC CCS pads lately, also their blue cyan pad as well. As far as polishes I recently was blown away with Optimum hyper polish but it was used on a brand new car but ZERO dusting. When I need to correct something more major, my go to is M101 and Meg's Ultimate Compound are 2 that can't be beat!

Lastly what are YOU trying to accomplish (detail your car, commercial detailing)? What condition is the vehicle (slight imperfections, horrible swirls and holograms, etc)? How big is it (Civic or Tahoe)? How "perfect" do you want it?

This will help determine how many pads and what kind of product you need. I personally have loved M105 and 295 combo. Recently tried the new Boss cream and loved that. There are literally hundreds of products.



I would get a Griots, Megs or Lake Country 5 inch backing plate and some 5.5 pads depending on your paint condition. Get a 3.5 inch backing plate and some 4 inch pads for tough to reach areas and troubled parts.

Thanks for the info 392hemi. I am just trying to correct my paint on my personal cars only. One vehicle is an Infiniti with some swirls, the other in a Ford F150 which i have yet to take delivery of so i am hoping for little to no paint issues. The intent is not to do both vehicles at once. I am hoping the orange and white pad combo will get the paint to 90-95% (being that they are both white) prior to coating.
 
I'd get at least 4 orange and white pads, and two black.

I like the CCS for cutting, and flat for waxing.

The Meguiar's Ultimate Trio is a very nice starting point. M100/M205/M21 is fantastic. M100 seems to cut more and dust less for me than M105.

Menzerna also makes some beautiful polishes. HC400/SF3500 are super top line abrasives, and are user friendly on a wide range of paints, and climates. I top that with Duragloss 111 sealant. I also love using Lake Country Hydrotech line of pads with these products. Very simple line up - Cyan (blue) cutting, Tangerine (orange) polishing, and Crimson (red) finishing.
 
I just finished up my first "correction" tonight on my 05 Jeep Liberty, bit of a beater so its full of swirls/deep scratches/dents. I used a GG6 with 5.5" orange CCS pads. First off i tried D151, but i wasn't pleased with the correction. Next i tried Pinnacle compound but it was extremely dusty(user error?). Last i tried Sonax cut & finish, i'd say it took out 90% of the swirls and left a great finish. Was stupid easy to use, and didn't leave any hazing or anything that made me want to polish it. Threw on 2 coats of Collinite 845, and it looks awesome. Might not be as good as a 2-step correction, but for a beginner on a DD i'm more than happy with it.

Thanks, I have always enjoyed cleaning my cars and having a clean car. This is my first dive into using a DA and polishing the paint.

Lots of good suggestions. I used a hf orbital until recently purchasing the g15 kit. They've got a great deal going on it right now. I've really enjoyed the polisher and the creams are great!

He speed is great but it's a aio you probably don't want to use it before a coating.
