What really grinds your gears

Another super annoying thing is road bullies in gigantic pick up trucks. They insist on tailgating you in any type of weather condition, regardless of how much you're already going over the speed limit.

The snow removal crews are as bad, if not more. They have that special little orange beacon that give the impression that they are REALLY important.

The top of the list is "uptalk". Originally implemented by teenage valley girls in the 80's, this speech calamity had permeated all sectors of daily living, wherever, whenever someone is speaking.... Abysmal. [ame="http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NQWej-hMiZI"]Uptalk in Public Speaking - YouTube[/video]

Also, the phrase "I know, right?". What does that even mean?!?! It's got a strangle hold on Michigan, especially on the "east side" of Metro Detroit.

Those two are like nails on a chalkboard. Actually, I'd take the nails over those two examples.

The "I know, right" is a generational thing, I've heard 20 something guys use this term here in Chicagoland as well.

Friends in their 40's over here.

We unconsciously pick up speech habits from those around us...how many parents wind up using phrases from their teenage kids?

yep. and it goes both ways. i say things that my friends still to this day don't even understand because i had old parents. well, have old parents, they are still alive somehow but growing up my parents were almost double the age of my peers' parents. i'm not mad at that though because i know a lot of things that they don't because of it. even the TV programming my parents watched helped me out...i think. and it's stuck with me: i regularly watch ME TV, all shows that were airing probably at least a decade before i was born lol

The best was my brother trying to explain away some phrase that his daughter was using, saying "I don't know where she gets that from" and we're all looking at him thinking "from YOU, you say that all the time!"

I watched this TV series when it originally aired...
It's still one of my favorites! :dblthumb2:

I don't have "one" thing unfortunately :D

Today, amazingly, nothing has pissed me off.

But I'll pick something....
One of biggest issues (as someone who dines out a lot) is people who sit their kids up at the bar...

Since when are kids aloud at a bar that serves alcohol?????

Maybe I sound like a complete *******, but I HATE going to a restaurant, sitting at the bar and having kids at the bar while adults are waiting to get a seat at it.

In mind mind, the bar area, especially the bar ITSELF, is a kid-free zone.
I may drop the F bomb a couple times. I am drinking adult beverages. I don't want to have to worry about setting a good example for someone's child. I am NOT behaving badly, but I am not necessarily acting "child-friendly", either.

that wouldn't fly here. at least i've never seen that in my area of NJ. and i am almost exclusively a bar diner. i don't even drink and i dine there because it's awesome.

What wouldn't fly? Me or the kids?

hahaha, well, i was thinking the kids at the bar thing...but you might end up getting kicked out too! hahahaha

Naaaaah, I behave

We eat only at the bar when we go out... in fact, we are going out tonight.

So look out kids!

Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. Yes, they are great, but it makes me so cheap the rest of the year. If a clothing store can make everything 60% off, I feel like a real sucker paying normal prices the rest of the year.

Also, people who think a car magically becomes cheaper at the end of the year. Yes, you might get a deal if we are just short of a quota, but no, we don't have $10,000 to give you off of this $25,000 car.

Now it's Cyber Week!!!! :wow:

i don't know what it is, but when i'm swimming laps in one lane, people decide to jump in without my acknowledgement and it's hard to see someone when you're in the midst of doing a lap and then it's too late and run into them. there's usually an open lane and yet they decide to jump in the one that's occupied. sheesh, at least wait for me to stop swimming so i can see you. common sense right?

For some reason or the other:
Mrs. FUNX725 likes all this cyber-stuff!

Bob
