What rpm to shift at...

Yeah shift at 2.5-3k, then when you get in a higher gear your revs should be at 2k or so.

Or if your going around a cloverleaf on ramp.. stay in 3rd, then redline it and fly past all the people who cant merge to get off the highway :)
 
To the OP, this is too general a question. Too many variables to even start to answer. For now, worry about being smooth and consistent. No point in trying to get good fuel economy with the tractor engine in the jeep, and no point in running it up 'till redline either since it really has no power in the higher rpm range... When you do drive, try to feel what your passengers are feeling. As a driver you will not notice how un-smooth or jerky you can be driving, as the body predicts movements based of your driving inputs. Stay relaxed and just feel everything you can. The Jeep is good in that there is no hiding or damping anything on it, so you get out what you put in, if you know what I mean. Nothing to mask or distort. Learn to be smooth in the Jeep and you'll be smooth in anything.

Once you get smooth, then you can start to wind out the engine ;)
