I'm still trying to figure out what product I want to use on my Black Mustang. I think I want to go with a sealant based on what I've read about the characteristics of both.

I have Meguiars NXT 2.0 but read that it isn't very durable. What would you recommend to make my paint pop and give me good protection?

Also, I read that sealant needs to cure....can someone explain this to me?

Meguiar's Ultimate Wax will give you slightly longer duration in similar conditions on a similarly prepared finish. Excellent reflections too.

UW needs to cure. Curing allows a process called interlinking to take place. If you overcoat it or apply a second coat to insure coverage, 12 hours in a medium amount of time to allow the first coat of wax to cure. More or less time is satisfactory. Typical would be lay down a coat at the end of the day and second or topcoat the next morning.

There are a lot of equally good choices. I have used and recommend:
1. Blackfire Wet Diamond.
2. 4 Star Ultimate Paint Protection.
3. Duragloss 501 and 105
4. Meguiars M21
Follow the manufacturers recommendations for curing before adding a second coat.
For some extra carnauba depth, top your sealant with Fuzion or Souveran.

+1 blackfire wet diamond, love this stuff!!!! black is in the name its gotta be good for black cars lol!!!!!!!

I think I'm gonna go with backfire wet diamond then the next morning apply black fire midnight sun carnuba.

Well see how it works out. I'll take before during and after pics when I do the full paint correction and sealant/wax application.

Menz Power Lock works great and has a good shine to it and you can top with any wax to give it even more shine. Here is pic of a dark blue car.

No way to go wrong with the recommendations above. I'll add one for consideration....Wolfgang's DGPS. The sealant that looks like a carnauba.

If maximum protection is your goal, Blackfire WD or Four Star UPP. From there, you can decide whether to top with a wax if you find the finish a bit sterile looking. But for a "one step" LSP (isn't that a misnomer?!?), especially on a dark color, I absolutely love DGPS.

You might consider CG Black light. Great smell, smooth finish, great gloss. I don't think it has the durability of, say, a Coli 845 though. It has a beautiful finish and very easy to work with.

Really surprised no one has mentioned optimum spray wax? Super easy to apply and has a real nice lasting time.

Optimum Car Wax is often over looked. It really is a great product though

Well maybe it hasnt been mentioned since its not a sealant (it's a wax)...opti seal is a great sealant, optimum car wax is a good wax though to top it off... but the poster wanted a sealant over wax. i would say opti seal, with pete 53 wax (great on dark-black cars) on top and then as maintanence top off with optimun spray wax.
