What Shoes do you guys where with Short While Detailing?

I go barefoot - WAY more comfortable :dblthumb2:

In my opinion, the type of shoes you wear is not as important as the final outcome of the detail. With Crocs you can wash the car, get them wet...then before working on the interior, just take a rag and dry them off so you don't bring water inside the car. Its a choice for convenience over looks. I have not had a customer look at me strangely or question my shoes.

I agree. the most important thing is to make sure you keep your "boys" inside the shorts!
 
Yes this is true. It's much more likely going commando... first sign of a breeze u better check lol
 
I often times where my "work boots" w/shorts. I think it looks fine and don't care otherwise. The boots are lined w/goretex and keep my feet dry.

I do have some Keens (no heel / slip on) and they are very comfortable.
 
I may look into the Oakleys....I wouldn't mind having a comfortable pair of shoes to detail in. I always hate wearing flip flops since once they get wet I end up slipping around in them.

And I like having the support of sneakers, makes me more comfortable.

I have the Oakley ones from Griots, and they work great! BUT I can't use them every day or for longer details. Although they do drain well, they do not dry well. With or without socks and ejection holes the inside stays moist enough be become uncomfortable as we work on a car for hours after washing it. Further, if your foot was dry, stepping into any puddle will get water back up through the sole and under your foot. That said, I still love them! They are decent driving shoes as well, very light, and look cool. Plus I can brag about washing my car with special shoes, people always get a kick out of it (and think I am bonkers).

Flip flops are my favorite shoe of all time. Raised in the tropics and surfing all the time, Flojos, Reef, Oakleys, ahh the memories :) But IMO they do not look professional enough for working for others. I use them all the time in my garage if you guys see in some of our pics.

So what I resort to is having 3 to 4 pairs of shoes. They get used once and left to dry while I cycle through the others. Ever so often they all get thrown into the washing machine, then let to dry over a heater vent or in the sun. The sun does the best job as deodorizing them, and I have no smell after washing and drying well. I have a foot-smell-phobia but do not use creams or powders on any shoe, this method has worked well for me.
 
I love wearing flip-flops (thongs), but I have to have good footwear on when I am working. For washing, etc. I usually wear these:

They are waterproof. 'Nuff said.

I wore those for construction work as well for about 6 months. Good shoes. Kind of ugly to me, but "form follows function".

Polishing and interiors I like to wear some different shoes though. (No cleats on the bottom to hold on to stuff).

Yeah but on a sweltering hot day it feels good. :xyxthumbs:

I'm not a detailer, just a weekend warrior. And those are just my old kicks, relegated to car wash/gardening duty. I do love the bright RED though. ;)

It's hard to find shoes when you're a 13 EEEE.
