What should I do?

I notice when I detail my customer cars when it's time for me to come back and do routine up keep that it's like water spots on the panels or or dash board and the Windows you can tell how I wiped one it's dirty and Windows get foggy....

But once I clean it the panels and dash all looks good... Customer never complains but I feel that it's not acceptable too me.... What can I do to fix this problem

It's sorta messing with my confidence to move to higher end clientele

What glass cleaner do you use?
What kind of towels do you clean the glass with?
How many dedicated glass towels do you have/use?
Do you use 1 towel to clean and a separate 1 to dry?
 
Windex and micro fiber towels and 1 towel folded into 4 and I don't spray the glAss just the towel

You need to step your game up.

Seriously, you can't show up trying to cater to high end clientele armed with Windex... If I saw someone in charge of detailing my car trying to clean my tinted windows with Windex I'd blow a gasket. Lol.

Invest in quality products made for detailing automobiles before trying your hand at high end clientele. It's an absolute must.
Waffle weave towels, huck towels, etc.. There's much better options than plain microfiber towels these days. You're at the right site.
 
You need to invest in quality products and polisher,i like the flex 3401 safe easy to use,when customers come to drop off their car they see products you don't get in the store;shows them that you have quality,professional products,and invest in quality micro towels,autogeek has a sale on them...have fun keep detailing...AUTO ONE DETAILING...ON FACEBOOK

IMO: Nothing wrong with a Detailer using Windex
Auto Glass & Interior Cleaner...Ammonia-Free.

It contains the "usual suspects" as found in
many, many other window cleaners:
•Water...remainding % of product's volume
•IPA...~5-10%
•And, as a bonus, a little bit of vinegar: ~0.01%


The magic of window cleaning is in the towels.
Or, rather, it's: What's not in the towels!!


On a related subject:
Get some Meguiar's D120 Glass Cleaner.
You'll be glad you did.

I dunno Bob.. I looked on their website and I couldn't find that perticular form of Windex.

However, regular Windex contains Ammonium Hydroxide aka Ammonia.

Ammonia and Ammonium Hydroxide.

•Without going through all of them at this time,
I'll just list one of the major differences:
-Ammonia does not have any water content;
while Ammonium Hydroxide contains water.

There is also "regular" Windex that's both
Ammonia Free, and Ammonium Hydroxide Free. :xyxthumbs:

Yea, all of these Windex'es are also "Ammonia-Free":
-Windex Multi-Surface Clear Springs
-Windex Multi-Surface Antibacterial
-Windex Multi-Surface Vinegar
-Windex Outdoor Multi-Surface Concentrated Cleaner

If you want hassle free glass cleaner with no mixing involved,rupes 21 ,a little pricey but works great.you can clean glass if you are sick to death with a flu,that's how easy it is.stay away from thick micro to clean glass.I use terry towels from my hair salon vendor.

And I could've sworn I checked multi purpose Windex etc.. And they had Ammonium Hydroxide. But I'm not going back to their website anymore.
With all due respect to OP, who uses Windex to detail cars? That's the bottom line.
 
No need to throw salt in his wounds. He came here to learn and ask questions, not get barraged by opinion based comments. We've all started somewhere Eldorado. At least he's willing to ask and learn. That's a lot more than I can say for many in this industry who rely on their 5 minutes of YouTube video "knowledge".

You'd really be hard-pressed to figure out what Brands
of window cleaners are in my AutoZone spray bottles. :laughing:

I do on occasion.

I'm not prejudiced against using products that
contain Water and IPA for cleaning auto-glass.

Shoot...throw some surfactants into the mix,
and I bet I still wouldn't pitch a fit. :)

@Busy Mind. I said with all due respect to OP. Because I truly don't mean any disrespect towards him or his question. I'd feel horrible if that was the case and I hope the friendly back n forth between Bob and I isn't taken the wrong way by him or anyone else..

@Bob. I'm not prejudiced against certain "brands" either.. You'd be surprised to know what's in a couple of my dispensors as well.😏

But it aint Windex! Lol.

Sounds to me like there is more to the story than just a window cleaner discussions.

- What are you using to clean the panels and dash with?
- Are you noticing any spots on the exterior of the vehicle?

The culprit may lie in something more sinister, like perhaps a non diluted APC which is causing some etching. Particularly in the glass. If you're wiping the glass, and the spots go away, but then reappear, your issues may lie beyond glass cleaner.

But this is purely speculation until you answer the two questions.
