I think I have settled on the Griot's ROP to replace my first generation PC. My question is what are the recommendations for the backing plate (what size)? I have noticed many posts recommending the use of 5.5" pads as opposed to the 6". Wondering if there is a consensus on this and if so, what backing plate should I order? Thanks.

You will need a 5" bp for 5.5" pads. You should also get a 3.5" plate to use with 4" pads for tight areas. You will love the power the new Griot has vrs. your old pc.:xyxthumbs:

Agree with the whole statement.

If possible, keep your old PC. I did. I use the GG for the 5.5" and my old PC for the 4" pads. Don't have to change backing plates that way. The PC has plenty of power for the 4".

I got the LC 5" & 3.5" backing plates and have had no problems.

5.0 and 3.5 inch backing plates are mandatory with all randoms IMO, but wish we had that option with the Flex too. Other than using the 3M/Edge adapter that is...

I was wondering the same thing and after using my griot's DA for the first time I would say get the 5" backing plate at a minimum. and potentially the 3.5" as well.
