My interest in detailing was initially sparked by the purchase of my first new car. I bought a 2000 Mazda B2500 5sp manual in Torreador Red. I was determined to keep this car forever and have it looking showroom new as long as possible. It took all of about a month to get my first major scratch on it. Not caused by ME of course, but a parking garage that mysteriously put a nice, pin-straight line down the center of my tonneau cover... Ever since that day I have been meticulous, but not until recently have i decided to start REALLY getting into detailing. I am researching my upcoming equipment purchases and cannot wait to get my hands dirty.
As for my truck, I sold it 5 years ago with 68,000 miles on it. I see it almost every week (fortunately or unfortunately, you decide) and it STILL looks like the day I bought it (other than a dent that it got while the new owner had it parked on the street...oh to learn PDR). To me it's not just about keeping it looking nice, I just find that it's a great way to unwind and like others have posted before me - the before and after really makes it worth it.
