Im gonna use poor boys ssr1, and follow up with poorboys EX. Iam wondering what speed i should run the ssr1? and what speed i should run the EX? I will be using a white pad to apply the ssr1 and a blue pad to apply the EX, does that sound ok? this will be the first time to use the pc 7424, and i really need to know the proper speeds to run and any other tips on using the PC, thanks OH YEAH and how do i go around the trim or get the product right up to it w/o hitting the trim?

I would run the ssr 1.0 at 5.5 and the EX-P at 3 or 4. For polishes you should run the PC at 5.5 as they will need a little heat to breakdown properly. For your glazes, waxes and sealants, they don't need heat, so just running it at 3 or 4 to spread it evenly is all you need. As for the trim, you can tape it if you want, but Poorboy's will not stain it so even if you hit it it won't hurt it. It's up to you. :)

iam not risking ruining anything , what could go wrong, so i can make sure it dosent, guess i just make sure that i keep moving the pc and not let it rest in one place

Are you using the Edge system or the Lake country system?? You don't have to worry about burning the paint with the PC. The PC is a dual action polisher and meaning that it moves in two ways rather than in just one way like a circular polisher. This allows the heat to escape so there is no risk of burning the paint like you have with a rotary. That said, the polishes benefit from the heat produced by the friction when you run it at 5.5. It helps them breakdown, but it is not enough heat to damage your paint in anyway. :)

hehehehehe Yes it's a real speed! I bump it up to 6 and then move the dial down just slightly to where the sound changes and that's how I find 5.5. :)

I don't know if some PC's are made different or what, mine has no inbetween. Sure it changes speed at about 5.5, but it's the same speed as 6. And from 5 to 5.5 it's the same speed.

Same here. Did we get the factory rejects with no 5.5 setting? :D

The PC dial just has whole numbers, 1,2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. there is no 5.5 marking. I just find mine by sound. I crank it up to six and then just tap it back some very slightly to where the sound changes. Regardless, if you run the PC at 5 or 5.5 it will still accomplish a beautiful finish.

I know it only has the whole numbers, but like Grimm said there is no inbetween speed, just a definite 5 or a 6, depending on which way you are dialing it, up or down.

Yeah that's what I was saying too... there is no 5.0, 5.1, 5.2... 5.5...5.8...6.0.

If you go to 5 and then go up until the sound changes... that's the same sound as 6. If you start at 6 and go down until the sound changes, that's the same as 5.

Palabra. :D

there is no speed 5.5...lol...we discussed this on another forum and some one called PC and asked if there was a speed between 5 and 6...and answer was no...you go to speed 6 about half way from 5 and 6....

they were thinking of making it fully adjustable thru out the whole speed range..but never happened....

Wow.
Mine has a dial and has in between speeds. I have Meg's G100.....same as the 7424 but with a lifetime warranty.
Weird that yours don't.

:iagree:

In between 5-6, on the dial, is 5.

Change the speed on your PC without it on and you'll feel "clicks" between 1-5 but none between 5-6.

i choose 6 as well, anything less has always been 5 for me
