I live in North Andover, Mass.

My business name is Dan Tran's Mobile Detailing... Dan is short version of my real name.

Do I still need a DBA from town hall even if it's named after me and I will be a one man show?

What will I need to obtain for federal tax purposes?

I think it varies state to state so I'll just tell you what I did for myself in Ohio.

I opted for making an LLC for legal reasons. After you establish that you register for an ein from the federal website.

After that all I had to do was register with the state for paying sales tax.

If I'm missing anything please let me know so I can fix it other wise I think that's the steps to create the business. Also make sure to get insurance.

Seek a acct to put yourself in the right corporation such as llc or s corp etc.

Also legal websites can help with this. I'm friends with a paralegal though so they did it for me.

Yes, you need a dba if you are doing business as anything other than your name. You do not have mobile detailing as part of your legal name so a dba is required. Your accountant will help with paying your taxes. In Ma we don't need to collect any sales tax on services so you are ok there.
