What to do with soft paint?

I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee that is black. I was desperate and reached for the car wash brush on the wall. Needless to say this made a disaster of a mess and scratched EVERY panel on the Jeep! This is a daily driver and I want to get it cleaned back up. So here's the problem.

I used m84 with a Meg's w7006 on a rotary to get the scratches leveled out. Followed that up with m83 and a w8006 polishing pad to get rid of swirls and cutting pad marks. Then went to m09 and the w9006 to get rid of any final marks. This did not work at all! I then tried the m09 and w9006 on my rop and it made it more of a haze and left small pigtails in the paint. Not sure what that's about? I also noticed that when wiping the polishes off that the microfiber towel was leaving marks in the paint and a further test with just my finger rubbing on the paint left marks as well.

These are the materials I had and have used successfully on any of our other vehicles. I'm not sure what to do with this paint as I've never had this problem ever! I need to get this cleaned up so I can get my wife's Town and Country in the garage and get it done too cuz the dealer made a mess of it when they prepped it for her to pick it up.

I'm considering updating to some newer pads like some lc pads and maybe trying out new polishes but not sure where to start. Any guidance in the right direction as far as how and maybe a starting point on pads and polishes would be VERY much appreciated!
 
Wolfgang Twins or Optimum Polish and Finish II. Most people will tell you M105 & 205, but I believe these are easier to work with and dust less. On black, nothing beats Menzerna SF4500 as a final polish, but its not necessary. Either one if those two with a foam polishing and finishing pad should be what you need.
 
Oh and I'm not looking to remove all the marks. That's very unrealistic considering there are pretty deep scratches from snow sliding off the hood in the winter. Just want the brush marks out and swirls out.

How deep are the scratches? If you can get your finger nail under them there not coming out. When I do a 1 step on soft paint I use MF pad with D300 and then SF4500 with a foam pad
 
I am a firm believer in finishing soft paint down with porter cable da machines on a very fine polish such as sf 4500 or even wg finish glaze. You have to be very carefull on soft paint and pick the right pad. In some instances choosing a blue, grey, red pad for the finishing step might be the answer to clear any hazing left over.
 
There are a few scratches that are pretty deep. I think those are from a neighborhood cat jumping up there and sliding off due to the fresh coat of m21 that was applied the day before :-)

But like I said I'm not concerned with those cuz I know I will not be able to get those out without removing a dangerous amount of clear. Mostly want to get rid of swirls and the marks from the car wash brush.

I need to keep one of my wash mitts and a bucket in there so that doesn't happen again.
