In my n00b status, I thought that Blacklight was my LSP. I'm beginning to think that I was wrong. I laid this down on a test hood this weekend after M105/M205 and it looks great!

However, I am questioning its durability. I've read a bit about using a Caranuba wax then V7.

What are your preferred products? Or would you prefer to throw it in the trash?

I was considering Collinte 845 and V7.

Thanks in advance.

What about Pete's 53 or 5050 if you want to stay with chemical guys. If you want I just topped Blackight with BFWD then going to throw on some midnight sun after

Or just V7. Blacklight and V7 are made for each other LOL!

You'll hear so many opinions here, Black light is an odd product, some say its a glaze some say its a light polish, some hate it, some love it. I top it with fuzion and V7. I have lots of CG stuff, PM if you ever need some advice

Thanks for the input!

For what it's worth I'll be using this on red, blue and black vehicles primarily.

If you have Black vehicle...Top it with Dodo Juice Purple Haze Pro...See for yourself:

I love the look of Pete's 53 over BL, topped with V7 after maintenance washes. I've also used WGDGPS after BL that looked good also.

I topped mine with FK1000p. Mainly for durability but i was pleased with the results.

Too many folks take more effort to debate what BL is or isn't instead of coming to the realization that it just works. I think it may just be the best foundation product of any kind on dark paint for carnauba waxes.

You are so correct SilverFox...The stuff is great

Richard, Cherry? Do you mean butter wet wax?

There is a Cherry Wet Wax too.

+1 I use it on almost every detail

Todd Cooperider of Esoteric Car Care tested it for over a year and used it on many cars that came through his shop.

His review summary is below:

"I have been using Black Light for over a year now on just about every single car that has been detailed at the Esoteric studio. If I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t still be using it, right?

This product does so many things well that I couldn’t imagine dropping it from my arsenal (unless something better comes out of course). I use it as a final sealant, and I use it as an all-in-one product. I even have a pre-set starter package that I offer where Black Light is the featured AIO (for you detailers out there…that type of service with this product is where the big profit is…it’s not in the full correction jobs).

No one product is perfect for all types of paints and all conditions, and Black Light is no different. Because of the light abrasives in the formula, I have found a few finicky, ultra-soft paints where it would leave slight marring after finishing up a full correction detail. When using it as an all-in-one on neglected soft paint, this isn’t an issue. When working on perfected soft (dark) paints however, I’ve noticed slight marring. This is not a deal-breaker by any means because these types of paints are rare.

In my professional opinion, Chemical Guys Black Light is one of the great products available out there in the market, and it most definitely gets my seal of approval!"

I've done a lot of reading and I'm still stumped as to what to top it with.

I've had the following thoughts, only to be swayed by another opinion:

BL + Pete's 53 + V7
BL + JetSeal
BL + Collinite 845
BL + V7

My primary concern is what to use as a sealant. I gather than any of the Carnauba waxes will last about 1/3 as long as a synthetic sealant.
