I have a green metallic 2002 BMW 330xi daily drive that sits out side. I take care of it the best I can with OTC stuff, it has minor swirls and hard water spots. I have purchased the Pinnacle XMT line along with a PC and the Edge 2000 pad kit from AG. What type of product should I use after the XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze?

Thanks,
Todd

Go with a good carnauba like Natty's Blue, Souveran etc. NB has great durability for a nuba, and looks extremely wet and deep. My truck sits outside 24/7 as well, done back in April and even with all the rain and crap last three months it still looks top notch. Only carnauba I've seen last longer is Collinite 915 which I have as well and you can get otc at any Marine shops (have it for boats and ski's but you can use it on autos).

You love the Edge 2K pads, love mine:D, and from the pics I've seen of XMT Glaze topped with a nuba, you'll love it as well. Maybe try Clearkote Carnauba Moose Wax and post pics as I want to see what it looks like :D , supposedley has excellent durability and very wet looking.

My favorite combo right now is XMT Glaze covered with Souveran paste. It's the wettest I've ever seen a car. Try it...you won't be dissappointed.

Pinnacle Souveran is great after the glaze, but if you want some durability, give Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant a try. I've done several cars with this combo and it works well.

I've been told that a Sealant over a glaze is a no-no. It doesn't adhere to the paint as well because of the oils in the glaze.

There are glaze's that are sealant friendly. Wolfgang is one that is sold as
a pre-sealant glaze. The XMT finishing Glaze has carnauba in it and should
not be used before a sealant due to bonding issues. Read the descriptions
of the product on Autogeek site and they usually tell you if the product is
sealant friendly. I really like a sealant as a base and layer Nattys Blue to my
hearts content for the warm and deep colors.

See this is why I asked, I have a lot to learn. Thanks,

To make it as easy as possible for you i would top it with SOUVERAN PASTE and keep it up monthly.......

Good luck.............

:iagree: with Bill thats probably your best combo or if it's because of the $ then try PB NB, as discussed on a previous thread very very close to Souveran

There are at least a dozen great carnuabas within the pages of AG that will fit the bill. Pinnacle, Poorboys, P21S , Clearkote, DP and more ..

Great thread. Very useful info. I learned that a sealant over a glaze is not very durable by trial and error, then read why on this forum.
Maybe I should always search here first? Duurrrr...uhhhhh!
Thanks. Later

Look at the Bimmer I did.

That's XMT glaze topped with liquid Souveran.
It's my new combo for the masses! If it does this on white, can't wait to see on a dark color!

Shayne, now why would you want to stray?

Bringing this thread back...

So what is the sequence here? XMT 2 or 3, then XMT 1, then Glaze, then Max Wax? Or XMT 2 or 3, Glaze, then Max Wax? If those are both wrong, then tell me whats right.

There is a glaze that you can top off with a sealer......:) by chemical guys.... very good.......

I used XMT 2 or 1 depending on the condition of the surface (hood and trunk got 2 sides got 1) followed by XMT finishing glaze then 3 coats of PB’s Natty’s Blue, the thing looks great. :applause:

I know pix to follow; the car has been in the garage for a week, while I take my time waxing a polishing. AGO rocks:awesome:

Thanks everyone!

Glazes vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturere. Some are pure glazes adding only oils and fillers to help hide swirls and give the paint extra gloss and depth, some have abrasives, some have cleaners. It's important to read the labels carefully on the glazes so that you can choose the one that will work best with your LSP. :)

If you are using XMT finishing glaze then you could not use a sealant as your LSP. I agree with the others that Souveran is a great way to go, but I would also suggest Max Wax. It really is great on metallic flakes.

If you wanted to go the sealant route then I would use the WG finishing glaze with the Wolfgang Deep gloss paint sealant as your LSP. You could then top it with Souveran or Max Wax for extra depth or just leave it untopped. Just my 2 cents. :)

Can I put a nuba over wolfgang or DP sealant right away or should I wait 12 hours:confused: I also think in gonna try out the liquid souveran over the xmt glaze.

Wait until the cure time has passed then you can top with a nuba. I recommend 2 coats of WG to insure even coverage before topping with you're wax. :)
