I will currently be wet sanding a car to remove all orange peel and then i will be using some Meguiars m105 and m205 and then Menzerna PO85RD polish! now my question is, is it required to put something after the polish? or is polish the final step? or is there something to protect the polish?

You should use sealant or wax. You're protecting the paint, not the polish

what would be the best sealent or wax?

There are a ton of different suggestions for "what is best". If your looking for a sealant I would go with Menz Powerlock. For a wax here are a few good ones, Pinnacle Souveran, Fuzion(I have yet to try, but heard great things), Collinite 845, Dodo Supernatural, Pinnacle XMT 180 High Gloss.

If price isn't an issue I'd go with Pinnacle Souveran or Fuzion, but if your on a budget (as a lot of us are) Collinite is a great durable wax for around $15.

but is it ok to wax it or apply sealant after the car has been wetsanded and buffed?

Yes it is. You just want to ensure that you've prepped your surface correctly and removed any oils left from the polishing. You can use a cleaner/wax or an IPA wipe down..check out Mike Phillips write up on the subject - http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...cleaner-cleansing-lotion-pre-wax-cleaner.html.

After it's prepped you can follow the direction on whatever wax or sealant you decide to use. The sealant/wax will help protect the paint and help maintain the finish you just spent fixing!

thank you very much! i sure will be looking into the wax products you mentioned! thanks!

I am a big fan of Optimum Optiseal topped with Optimum Spray wax, they look great on a properly prepped car, easy application and good durability. For a Carnuba based wax I prefer Clearkotes Carnuba Moose Wax, good stuff as well

whats the difference between a sealent and a wax?

A sealant will usually last much longer but not give you the deep, wet reflections that a wax would.

This is a very general statement but waxes give a glossier look but dont last as long while sealants last longer and dont give as glossy of a finish.

But all waxes and sealants are different, and thats the fun part.

i use only pure carnuaba waxes . the look is just amazing and i like to apply a nice coat of wax. i never got into sealants there good im sure . if your looking for long term protection thats the way to go
