This stuff is so dry, I tried 1z leather care and it turned out pretty bad, then tried Poorboys leather stuff and it didnt turn out much better. Trying to strip them off with Meguiars APC now, but can still smell / sort of feel it in the leather...but thats another issue lol. Anyway, this stuff is so dry its crazy, has anyone had any first hand experience with it? Thinking of using leatherique next.

I use Leather Masters and the stuff works fantastic imo. AG doesn't sell the stuff yet.

lexol...been very good since I was a kid. ( and I am old :) )

new car, ehh? when you say turned out bad, what does that mean exactly?

anyway, i've been known to do a wipe down with 10:1 power clean, let it dry, heat the seats up well with the warmers or the HVAC so the pores of the material are as open as possible, and then wipe on optimum leather care generously with a foam filled cotton applicator. then, i cover the seats with x-large garbage bags and let them sit. i'll check them either in a few hours or overnight, and then try it again, heat and all. you'll feel the texture change after the first application, and the second should be enough to get you where you want. i don't know if it's the right thing to do, but it seems to work well. of course it matters what kind of leather you really have- alot of the stuff called leather nowadays is BARELY leather.

The leather GM uses in almost all automotive settings is coated or finished leather. You should have seen no issues with Einszett Leather Care which is designed for it specifically. For annual rejuvination you can certainly use Leatherique. Now if the leather is uncoated , then Connollys is your best option.

+1 for leatherique.

If your leather really is as bad as you say it is then leatherique would be my choice.

Btw, I'm sure you already know, but the leather in a G8 is coated. I drive many cars each day (each day I'm at work) that are very similar to the G8 as the G8 is basically a Holden underneath, and being that we're next door to the country that produces Holdens, they're quite common here. From all my experience, I would generally say the leather in the Commodore body line of Holdens isn't generally too bad. I wonder why yours has such dry leather?

For some reason the G8 soaked in the 1z stuff, I would literally apply it and move onto the next seat and the 1z would dissapear...problem is the next day (I applied the 1z with the heated seats and heater on and it was cold) I could see where the 1z had caked up a little in the minor stretch marks of the car despite me putting it on very thin, also didn't really care for the smell of the product.

I tried out WG Leather Cleaner and WG Leather Conditioner last night on my mom VW Touregg. I was pretty impressed the car isn't even a year old and the seats are still in new condition with no crack in them and, the WG Leather system made the seat look a hole lot better.

When using Leather Cleaners and Leather Conditioner here are a few tips.

When using the leather cleaner make sure to use short quick strokes really working it into the seats. Then wipe off and make sure the seats are completely dry before appling the conditioner. When appling the conditioner make sure your microfiber applicater is a little damp. Apply the conditioner to the seats and let it sit for a couple minutes. Once the conditioner has set on the seats for a couple minutes take a clean microfiber rag and buff the seats.

Note: Always read the directions

Did a little research on the G8 leather. If I'm not mistaking they used 2 different types. Some are finished and some of it is uncoated. I could not find numbers on when the switch was made. The ones I have detailed the Iz worked fine. It can not be too hot or cold. I was looking for colors as a clue to when they changed the production proccess.

send GM a email about ur leather to see what needs tobe done to clean and protect it from UV.
