What is the best product to use on plastic trim. For example Ford pickup plastic bed rails, steps on the styleside and bumper trim that have weathered and grayed????Some thing that will make them look at least half way decent.I have tried Mothers back to black which works on trim that is not as weathered very well for me but the really weathered stuff I am lost...

Black Wow or Ultima Tire and Trim Guard. I perfer the Ultima as it is not sticky and won't run if it gets wet.

Ultima Tire & Trim Guard, just used it for the first time, great product!

Does Ultima restore color like Black Wow and Mothers?

I personally like Poorboys Trim Restorer or Meguiar"s Ultimate Protectant. I've found that these make the trim stand out without leaving a sticky slippery mess afterwards. I also like the way they last for several weeks and through several washings as well.

For the hard plastic, you should try machine polishing with XMT 360 or a similar product to restore the plastic as much as possible. Try it in an inconspicuous area because if the plastic is too beat-up the polish will get stuck in all the scratches, and if you can't clean it out, it will look worse than before. After polishing the plastic, apply your preferred dressing (Tip: you can clean polish out of scratches in the plastic with trim dressing and a tooth brush, then wipe clean and reapply). I like Poorboy's Trim Restorer and I really want to try Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus, which has been recommended by some trustworthy members. :dblthumb2:

For smooth rubber trim, I found wax (like DP Max Wax) to be the least maintenance, with a very even look, that lasts and lasts.

So, would you also recommend either the ultima or PB for the massive amounts of black plastic on a Jeep Wrangler?

I've been using PB's trim restore for a while now, great product.

Jeeps are infamous for their plastic fading and turning gray. We had a guy (who was ready to paint the trim and fenders they were so far gone) that did a write up on TR. Needless to say after three applications, because TR works from the inside out to really condition and rejuvenate, the plastics looked brand new! If your looking to bring those old plastics back than TR is your product :props:

P.S. that's a very good review on durability of TR as well.

Love my F-150

Sorry to revive such an old thread but I can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I just bought UTTG and Poorboy's Trim Restorer so I haven't used either one. Which would be best for the outside rubber and indoor rubber like the door gaskets, trunk lining, etc? Which would be best for the window pillars (Ford F-150)?

Is there anything that one of these products is better at than the other?

UTTG for plastics and 1Z Gummi Pflege for rubber.

UTTG for durable coating of protection, PB TR for restoring/conditioning rubber and door seals etc..

Some sealants work very well IME (eg KSG, Colli 845), particularly if you are using them for the paint already.
