What tool is most critical to detailing?

A steamer and the knowledge of when to and when not to use it. You can do interiors and exteriors with a steamer.

Ignorance

:applause:

:iagree:

Ignore what your (detailer trained) eyes see, and envision only what the untrained car owner's eyes will see, then you can quit wasting precious time and money.

In my experience the above is the rule when detailing for profit on daily drivers.

The exception is when being payed (hourly) to bring a special interest vehicle to as close to perfect as one possibly can.

So I decided to go with a polisher... just thought i would update you guys...

Good choice I would have to say that knowledge and eyes are the most important though. Doesn't make a great picture.

no it doesn't.. lol, i was going for an actual tool.. as me putting two eyeballs with my logo wasn't what i was looking for.. which by the way i already completed.. but I'm refraining from posting it just yet... lol.. I'm still scrambling to get this in working order... before i consider myself open for business... too many things to try and way more stuff to buy... for now I'm just washing cars.. i figure i pay my dues and earn some extra cash.. and see what direction i go from there...

When I think about it, I am considering what separates a Detailer from what the average Joe can accomplish at home.

With that in mind, I agree that the professional electric polisher is the most critical tool.
