What type of paint does a '14 Grand Cherokee Overland have?

Howdy all,

Browsed these forums for a long, long time - and finally joined! I just bought a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland a week ago - and I detail it myself. What type of paint does Chrysler/Jeep use on these? I'd like to know more details so I can plan what kind of products to use after I clay bar the Jeep in a couple more days (once it warms up).

Thanks for any suggestions or feedback - the exterior paint is Maximum Steel Metallic Clear Coat (it has a tint of blue in it but appears nearly black).

That is the paint type....

You could go with WG Finishing Glaze and then WG Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

My question was meant to ask what the actual paint composition is - and how best to apply product to that type of paint.

Thanks for the answer & suggesting the WG products - I'll check them out.

It's a two stage paint, base coat, clear coat...

Do you have a DA Polisher yet?

Chrysler has some really good paint.....

Flex XC3401 - had it for about a year, love it! I had good luck with my '12 GC - but it was bright white and easier to care for.

You will be fine with the WG products then. :)

Might as well get the Swirl Remover, Finishing Glaze and Deep Gloss Paint Sealant...

You would be set...

Thanks for the excellent info Bob! The frigid weather of the past week has kept me from doing much, but the next few days will be above freezing so I can get my initial detailing done. Manufacture date was 8/13.

Does Chrysler use different paint than dodge? People were hating on dodge paint?

Lexus has different paint than Toyota. Same brand, just different clear coat mix!

How in depth would you like to go on your jeeps paint?
