After reading a lot of good recommendations here, i bought a rigid shop vac

i don't see it on their site anymore. it's 5hp but only a few gallons and shaped like a big tool box. no wheels but includes the blower and a big handle to carry it. I got the rigid auto detail accesory kit along with it and i'm pretty happy with the unit.

But i can't say how it compares to some of the higher priced vacs out there.

Ridgid Portable Vac with the Car Kit. This setup kicks absolute ass! The vac is extremely powerful/portable and has done nothing but impressed me since I've owned it. The Car Kit has some really convenient tools and includes a hose that is much small in diameter, longer, more flexible, and made of softer material than your traditional shop vac hose.

I will be buying this one!!! Thanks alot for posting what you owned! And it seems everybody loves the ridgid vacs!
