What would you do if your dealer severely marred your paint?

Wow, those pics show a terrible result of just a simple car wash. Really sorry you have to experience something like that. What did they use, a Brillo pad? You'll be coming out ahead if you can get anything out of a car dealership, but you have nothing to lose by trying. Life's indignities, huh? Hoping for the best for you, fella.
 
its always the cheapest guy on the job that will f you every time .as in 8.00 hr worker is washing cars I bet. when will they ever learn.
 
Can anyone advise on the best way to take a photo of a large section that will show the swirls all over? So far I've only been able to take small sections using the little led flashlight that I have. W/o purchasing expensive equipment, what are your suggestions? Is it best to find a parking garage with halogen lights, a bright sunny day, etc..???

Apparently you will be going back to same dealer for service work sooner or later. In my opinion your best bet is to make them aware of damage they inflicted on your car make your peace and move on. In the future you will be better off since service manager will know you. Yes you can pursue them to pay for detail job, but sooner or later you will be paying them back.

Wow, I'm sorry to see what they have done to your car, but I don't think you would get too far with the dealer, and if you do, you might end up spending more money/time that what is worth...

If you want to write a review about the dealership, I would try this website: DealerRater.com - Car Dealer Reviews, Car Dealer Directory, FREE Dealership Classified Ads. Also, keep in mind that the dealership is in the car selling business, not the car detailing business. As it has been pointed out in different threads, to dealerships, having a detailing department is a necessary evil, so they pay minimum wages to guys with little or no experience and purchase products that can be had for the least amount of money. Somebody said that most people don't want no swirls, they just want clean swirls. The truth is, dealerships are not about to change their ways just to please the 1% of us who don't want our cars scratched and swirled up and actually care about every aspect of our car's appearance. And while the OP is livid about what was done to his vehicle, the dealer is wondering why someone would complain about a free wash that 99% of their customers love.

This is sure a good idea...maybe Beercan or HollandPatrick or Pockets will do half your hood and you can show the dealer what it looked like before.
