Got a scratch/ding in the paint on my bumper. The body shop said short of a respray, my best bet would be to hit it with a tiny bit of touch up paint and learn to live with it. I don't want to do a respray, but I am wondering what--if anything--could be done to improve the appearance?
 
depending on the depth of that ding, you may be able to fill it with paint, otherwise you could have a go at doing a smart repair yourself.

you can work by hand using a small amount of filler and spray cans to achieve a good result, so its not necessary to have all the kit in the video. if you've not done one before, then i'd recommend practicing on a scrap panel first. bear in mind that smart repairs can be eroded by certain products (such as tar removers) so you will need to be careful around that area afterwards.
 
That ding/chip location will be more difficult to handle with touch up than normal applications.

But, if it's your DD, I'd purchase some Dr. Colorchip, fill it in the best you can and learn to live with because your front bumper will get more of these.
 
Once a Dr. ColorChip repair has been completed:
I'd apply Paint Protection Film (PPF) to this vulnerable area.

Dr. Colorchip isn't cheap, but IMO it's by far the best 'system' out there for touchup repair.
 
I'd touch it up then wet sand it. My small repairs like came out pretty good. Obviously you will need to polish everything out after.
 
Post "After" pictures....no one ever does on these types of repairs

Makes you wonder why
