Today I learned that the proper time to apply a glaze is after polishing and before waxing. My vehicle is an all black C-5 (2004) Corvette convertible. When I bought the car last June it was pretty well detailed but when you looked real close you could see some swirl marks. Last month I decided I couldn't live with the swirlies any longer so I bought some Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover and their Advanced Finishing Polish and used both products with my Porter Cable R/O buffer also purchased from AutoGeek several years back followed by a coat of Pinnacle's Souveran wax. The car looks fantastic so the question is, Would you go ahead and apply a high quality glaze right over the wax knowing that's not how it's designed to be used or would you wait until the next full detail sequence comes around and do the job as the products were intended by the manufacture?

I'd wait till the next time around. Personally I don't like layering anything on top of a glaze. I wouldn't even put a glaze on top of a wax, but that's just me. If you want it to really stand out then you would use a good sealant first and then top it with a wax (not glaze). You would be blown away at how good it can look after something like Wolfgang Paint Sealant topped with Pinnacle Souveran. But if you already have products that work for you then there isn't any reason to change (other than curiosity).

Most glazes are water solvable, meaning water will dissolve them, so they have no durability on their own whatsoever. If you're going to use a glaze, they you must wax over top of it or applying the glaze will be pointless. BUT in your case, where the polishing got rid of all the swirls etc, there is no need to glaze since glazes are mainly used to hide small imperfections.

If you really want to apply a glaze you might want to look into Prima Amigo. It is a light polish, cleaner and glaze, but it is polymer based so the filling is more durable than most glazes. I haven't used it, but it gets very good reviews.
