What products and tools would you use to clean and protect this?

And this?

not sure if this is a joke, honestly, but like HD said, the first picture get some of the high temp engine enamel, Auto Zone sells it in lots of colors, and the second, try some 0000 steel wool and then polish and protect.

I get what you guys are saying, and no not a joke. What polish and what protectant? What is p21?

p21s is a polishing soap. basically, it cleans and polishes, from what I have read, never used it. any good wax would work as a protectant.

Pic one, an acetylene torch, cut and replace with new muffler. LOL!!!

I still like never-dull for any chrome Stuff works good and is inexpensive and available pretty much at all parts stores

Im with everyone else on this one get some paint to bring it back to life especially if still good though if you insist try iron x or carpro trix with p21 polishing soap and steel wool rangeing from single 0 to 0000 you may also want to use a machine with a metal polish tooo

I was wondering if there was any hope for the first pic, its my daughters car and it has 180,000 on the clock I may try the paint to see what happens.

The second pic is my 2008 Audi A4 and I'm sure that can be fixed, I don't know anything about this p21 but it has been mentioned by a couple of people here so I will look into it. Who makes the p21 stuff? I thought I would get some metal polish and metal cleaner suggestions as it is black from exhaust that I have ignored for too long.

Will wax stand up to that heat as a protectant?

Acid bath, pressure wash, Emory cloth, hi-temp enamel for #1.
Alkaline degreaser, pressure wash, med. cut metal polish/die grinder/felt bob for #2.

Yes. If done right, it may become the focal point of the rear fascia.

845 will.

I don't know anything about the P21S, but in pic #2, I think you'll need something that's good at cleaning carbon build-up, but is also ok for paint?

Sorry if I was not clear, I can clean the paint was just talking about the exhaust in pic 2.

To clean my 5" exhaust tips I use;

APC w/nylon brush
0000 steel wool (using some sort of lubricant)
Metal Polish (I use the Mother's powerball)
Metal wax/sealant

I have an '06 A4 2.0T, and I use some APC with a brush/wheel woolie on the exhaust tips to get the majority of the gunk off, then I'll either use P21S polishing soap or something similar to get mine shinier. Yours can be improved a lot based on the pic, but I wouldn't expect "new" results, based on my experience.

Agree that the first pic is a re-spray candidate.
