What's a better LSP: DG 601/105, PNS, OOS?

Hey Autogeeks,

In your opinion, which is a better LSP in terms of durability (long Michigan winters with tons of salt), ease of application, cost (just a hobby) and glossiness for a black subaru, DG 601/105, Sonax PNS or Optimum opti-seal? I will be using AW as a drying aid and to help boost the protection.

Thanks a ton!

I'm a Sonax PNS guy, I used OOS last year and was not impressed by its durability or water characteristics.

Another vote for PNS it lasted through the worst winter I've seen since moving to New York last year. I have yet to find anything that handles water in the same fashion either.

•Duragloss #501, even when used in conjunction with #601, is still...IMO...an AIO.

•Both Optimum Opti-Seal and Sonax PNS
are dedicated Sealants.
-Either of these would be my choice for an LSP,
over an AIO.

PNS is amazing and I'm a huge DG guy. PNS is the best sealant currently on the market in my opinion.

He said 105, easy to get it confused though. It's the total performance polish not the marine all in one.

Threads like this make me want to buy PNS lol. When everyone raves about a product hard to not be impulsive to have it live with all the other impulse buys in my basement

Why hasn't anyone recommended #111? It's an amazing sealant in terms of both looks and durability, low cost and available OTC.

That's what I would use.

Sonax NetShield and Menzerna Power Lock seems to always come on top when these types of questions are posted.

So either of those products toped with Collinite 845 would be my suggestion for winter protection.

I recently went back to Z-2 after trying Col. 845 and DG 105/601. So far, I have not found a better sealant then Z-2 to get me through a salt infested Michigan winter. After being away from the Z for 2 years, I really appreciate how easy it is to apply by hand. A little really does go a loooong way!!!!!

Totally agree Z2 is great. DG personal evaluation, 601/501 6 months, 601/105 1 year +. 601/111 still testing going on 3 months and have not noticed any degradation so far. All of this in Arizona, it was only 117 yesterday. The thing I like with DG is you can apply 601 seperately or mixed (and it is cheaper) where you mix ZFX with Z2 only.

I assume when you say 601 you mean 501 mixed with 601. Don't use much duragloss but the 601 is a polish bonding agent, not a polish. Correct?

I have PNS on my car now and it's amazing...it's the "sealant version" of Collinite 845.

The problem I have with the Z and DG products is the dust attraction. I like the look but they attract dust like crazy IMO. Many products do I haven't tried them all but I have noticed quite a bit with those.

Correct 601 is a bonding agent and there are at least 2 ways to apply it. You can mix it with the sealant or you can apply 601 then apply sealant. I use the latter when doing touch ups for various reasons and the mixing when doing the complete vehicle.

Thanks for all the input guys. Has any one had any streaking problems with PNS? Also, can you top PNS with #845?

It's an aerosol product that you apply directly to the applicator and then apply to the paint--zero streaks. Just remember the application is a little tricky, but you will get the hang of it as you go on. I recommend a hex applicator or the Polishing Pal for application (you will need the grip).

As much as I love Colli, I wouldn't put it on top of PNS (though u can try it). Their Brilliant Shine Detailer is a great topper for it.

I have both DG 105/601 as well as Sonax PNS/BSD. My memory doesn't serve me well which one I love more but one of them will be applied tomorrow. For those of you who have used both and can remember which one works better for you, I'd like to know the details.

Too many products and too little time.
