what's everyone doing for exercise these days?

I'll skip to the fridge and back between commercials....

LOL that's good! Sounds like me!

12oz curls.

Now that's my type of exercise!

In all seriousness though I don't get much exercise beyond walking my two dogs a mile or 2 every couple days (my gf does it the other days). When the weather is warmer I go for hikes in the state park that's near my house.

I do need to get serious about loosing some weight. I've really packed on the pounds over the last couple years.

Cold months I hit the gym 1 to 2 times a day, 5 - 6 days a week, and walk 30 - 40 min on the track while pumping a 5 lb weight.

Nice weather, I walk outside at lunch (gym when raining), hit the driving range for an hour 5 - 6 days a week and walk 9 or 18 twice weekly.

I mostly watch what I eat, cooking good quality food with lots of veg's, cut the fast food except the occassional pizza or sub (maybe 2 - 3 times a month), cut the snacking, limit the beer, wine or booze to no more than 2 per day. But hey, I'm 57, if I look at a bag of Doritos I'll gain 5 lbs. :(

-Jumping to conclusions
-Skipping diet foods
-Pushing the limits
-Pulling pop tops
-Chasing rainbows
-See Food diet - See food, eat it.
-Staying in shape - Round is a shape

I read so much about the bad effects of everything, I gave up reading.

All said in jest!

I go to the gym 5 nights a week.

3 miles on the exercise bike, 1 mile run on the treadmill, then 2 miles on the elliptical.

I've been starting to work on upper body too - trying to work off that college kid gut I've developed from partying, lol.

My wife and I started bike rideing last yr. I did not think I would like it at first but now I can't wait for it to get warmer. The only problem is some of the people on the trails we use are real a*******! They expect everyone else to move except for them, think I might see how far my foot will go out this year lol.

- Purposely parking towards the back of the parking lot. It keeps my car away from shopping carts and it adds an extra few steps on the way into work.

- Quick detailing for 20 minutes 3-4 times a week.

- Playing with my nieces, aged 7 and 3 months. :D

Weight workouts 3 days a week. I try to do cardio, but the knee surgery is really holding me back. Gotta get in shape to hit the pool with my daughter(14 month old). A lot of nice looking moms in my town.

I work for a sports suppliment company, so all protein drinks and etc are free. I have no excuse!!!

Walk around all day with 40 pounds of equipment, run obstacle courses, ride my.mountain bike. I hate running now. I used to love it.

Lift 5-6 days a week. Try to get at least 30-45 minutes of cardio a day (after acl repair on each knee, cardio gets tough)

Looking into some crossfit this summer but its pretty pricey. Anyone else try crossfit?

I have been doing CrossFit for about 5 years and it is the only thing that I would ever do for working out. Because of the high intensity you get a lot of results for little time. The gyms do get kind of pricey, but you are pretty much getting a personal trainer which explains the price. Although I go to a gym now, when I started there weren't any gyms for me to go to so I just learned everything from the website. If you already feel comfortable with the movements and can stay committed on your own, I would just buy a good olympic bar and a set of bumpers from somewhere like Rogue Fitness or Again Faster, get some other random weights off craigslist, make a pull up bar, etc...

As you can tell I love CrossFit and could talk about it for a good part of the day. Let me know if you have any questions.

I was doing some squats this past Wednesday for an hour or two. By the time that Camaro was done, it was looking good and my legs were sore the next day.
Two birds with one stone, gotta do what I can.
I need to do more in terms of exercising and eating right, even though I'm 19. Right now it's gonna be easiest to do anything. Later in life, not so much.

I too am a CrossFitter and have been for over a year. I love it and will never go back to an ordinary gym again the community is great and the results are unbelievable, as long as you are willing to push yourself. Hey WRX are you competing in the games?

Tell me about it. I'm 28 and my knees are shot from not taking care of my knees back when I ran track, played soccer and baseball. They would "click" back then and setting tile for a couple extra bucks through school i think did them in..

I may just suck it up and pay for the crossfit this summer and see how it goes. The group workout atmosphere would be great to have. Just feel silly paying close to $200 to be "certified" to even be in the sessions, not to mention the awful price per session.

Nah I am not competing in the games this year, I have been too busy the past year to go more than 3 times a week max and even that is pushing it lately. You can look for my friend Rich Fronning Jr that got 2nd last year and Crossfit Cookeville in the affiliate cup. If our affiliate team makes it to Cali with Rich then I might have to go out for the games just to support.

Yea, I bet the prices there are a lot more than here just because of the area. Cookeville,TN is definitely not Fla. It is more expensive than the 24hr Globo-gym for sure, but most people pay over $100 a month for cable TV and I consider a good workout program to be worth more than that and definitely more beneficial. Best of luck in whatever you choose to do!

Hiking and road cycling are my favorite things to do for exercise :xyxthumbs:
