First off I would like to say keep up the good work that you guys do with detailing these cars. I just discovered this site last week. I love to try and make my car shine like new money. Once i got on here i discovered it was a whole lot that i didn't know. My wash skills were pretty much rookie level, compared to the cars I've seen on this forum. My younger brother has a greater passion for cleaning these rides more than I do. As long as i could remember he was always trying to hustle and getting details jobs around the neighborhood. He never had a shop or anything. He just does a good job. I think with the proper training he would excel. I know i could also. Its a couple of detail shops around here. I never seen any of them do cars like i seen on this site. I would like to one day start a detailing business with my bro, and show them how its really done. I just need the guidance as far as how to start up the actual business of it and getting a really nice shop or building to do the detailing. First and foremost i would like to get some first class training. Hope to network with some guys who can help me get the ball roling. :xyxthumbs:
 
well you have came to the right place. Once you start learning about detailing you'll get addicted. oh btw welcome to the site.
 
Welcome! You have certainly come to the right place. This forum and it's members offer more knowledge and experience than you could even imagine.

I've only been part of this forum since August 2010 and I've already taken my knowledge and skills to the next level. You ever have a question either search the forums or ask. You'll get plenty of answers!
 
Thanks bro! Thats the plan. Would recommend atttending the detailing class given by mr mike phillips. Then if so what else can i do to further my education as far as detailing these cars.

Read read read! Honestly, that's going to be your best bet besides attending a training with Mike. Read through the forums and absorb as much knowledge as you can. And then practice. On your own car, family cars, etc. The more practice you get the better you will be. And you will start to notice the areas that are often missed by sub-par detailers.

That would be your best bet in the mean time. Your certainly not going to gain everything you need to know over night. It's going to take time and practice. Plus there are a lot of different ways to tackle different jobs. You'll soon learn that as you ask questions or read through the forums. Everyone has a preference for what products to use or how to tackle certain jobs. It's really all about finding the correct techniques and the products that work for you.

I don't have my own shop. I have a part time detailing business. Unfortunately, I have a full time office job that pays all my bills. I do hope to make this my full time gig some day. But for now with my huge mortgage over my head I need to ensure the bills are paid. I can't go with out the pay check right now.

I have a garage on my house that I work out of, but in the winter I'm pretty slow. My garage is tiny and really limits me in the winter. But spring is coming and I'll be back to working 7 days a week. 40 hours at my office job and then squeezing in details whenever possible.
