comes with the portercable when you buy it? Is it good for anything?

haven't tried it, but maybe you can cut it up and use for dressing the trim, tires, etc...

IMO all its good for is the trash can.

That's about what I figured as I pitched it in the can right after taking the PC out of the box. Now I wish I woulda kept it as I've got some aluminum to polish that's going to trash whatever pad I use on it. Never know when you might have a use for something like that.

Some say they put their wool bonnets over that white pad. :dunno:

Through a quality MF bonnet over it and use it to remove wax or sealants maybe?

I've heard of people actually using it for household applications. One guy used it for his shower door and said it worked great.

If you're the type of person that doesn't like to throw out something - try to find another use for it that isn't vehicle related. You'd be getting more bang for your buck! That's my two cents.

Cut it up into pieces and use it for an applicator for trim products such as PB world trim restorer.

I use it (on the PC) for shining the stainless steel sinks in the kitchen. With a good metal polish it really works well.

What's the consensus on use it with MF bonnets?

I was going to, but I was worried so I slipped them over the (good) white pad.

I can't articulate WHY i was worried, it's just a thing like.... better safe than sorry :)

Has anyone really used it on paint and found it was bad?

The reason I ask that is I have never seen anyone say a foam pad (Lake Country, Buff and Shine, etc) were trash yet the one with the DA is. There are only supposedly only two sources for foams.

In my box the pad was affixed with a note (from Porter Cable) indicating that the pad shouldn't be used on paint.

Ok. My UDM 1.0 had a white pad but did not mention about it not being suitable paint. I never used it. It looks like a LC pad.
