What's the best wax for a white car?

I didn't bother waxing the very front bumper of the car where I know the clear bra will go. I wasn't sure exactly how far up the hood the clear bra would go, so I did wax the entire hood....knowing full well that they will apply a cleaner prior to installing the 3M clear bra.

I'm glad you polished the hood though. Be prepared to wax the front clip again after the installation. :xyxthumbs:

I have found nothing better than 845IW on white for shine, crisp reflections and longevity. Nice thing about white is it doesn't show slight wash-induced marks. It stays looking crisp and fresh for a long, long time.

The Boxter Spyder is the lightest Porsche on the market at 2,811 lbs. At 320 hp and 273 ft-lbs torque, this car is not only lighter than the previous Boxter S, it is more powerful.

That is a decent amount of power for a car that weighs only 2,811 lbs.

Thanks TLMitchell, now the 845 your referring to is it Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax?
I've never heard of it until you brought it to my attention, and reading all the reviews I'm definitely gonna order some!! Thanks again!

Unfortunately, I don't own any Souveran yet. My wax/sealant collection is small. Consisting of only the following Blackfire Wet Diamond, Megs 21, Auto Glym HD, Megs NXT, Megs Gold Class, Adam's Butery Wax, and Natty's Red. Hopefully by Monday I will also have added Pete's 53, and Duragloss. (waiting on the orders to get here)

Eggzactly. :props:

The key word with 845 is thin. If you don't have trouble seeing it go on white you're using too much. It appears to be a vaseline-type consistency when you first open the bottle and after you shake it up a wax plug forms on top. Shove it back in and shake it some more. Serious shaking will eventually turn it into a very thin, watery consistency.

If you've got any flip tops on empty or unused products, save 'em. The stuff is so slick after you use it a few times you'll have trouble keeping the screw cap on when shaking. 845 also has excellent longevity on the inside of garage doors, walls, floors, etc. :D

Once you have a watery consistency I use the flip top to dribble itsy bitsy dots around my hood and after spreading you may be able to do the rest of the car without adding more 845 to the pad. A little goes a looong way.

Even though the Spyder is the lightest car that Porsche sells (and they market it as such) it is still about 800 pounds heavier than the Lotus Exige that I sold. But, the Spyder also has 100 more horsepower, so the Spyder has a very slight power to weight ratio over the Lotus Exige S.

Anyway, reading all these comments on 845 IW makes me want to try that on the Spyder. 845 IW looks great on silver and seems to have a nice bright look to it that would seem to be perfect for white paint.

Don't under estimate Porsche's legendary braking systems. I'd like to go at it in a Lotus Elise :xyxthumbs:

The Elise has 190 bhp, and weighs 1,900 lbs.




 
No kidding, the brakes on the Spyder seem much better than what I had on the Lotus.

:xyxthumbs: Used it for the first time this week! So slick, so easy and so cheap! My only complaint is warming it up before using it.
Search BoobyG and check all his comments on 845....he is well versed.

ROB!!! You didn't!?!?!?!? You sold your exige? And on top of that, you copied my color :P hehe. Congrats Rob. How you like it vs your Exige? You miss it? I find I miss my G sometimes, but whenever I get behind the wheel of my Z, it all fades away...

p.s. so much for you using Souveran!!! give me your tub!!! hehe
 
I have Poorboys white diamond glaze and Wolfgang deep gloss sealant on my white 911 and loved it. The white Benz currently has Optimum opti seal and Collinite 845 IW. In between washes I top it with Optimum spray wax.
