Hi all.

First of all, I'm new to the forums and a total noob to car detailing... I recently discovered ONR W&S and I plan on using it for the majority of my car washes (maybe 9/10 car washes). It's a great method for me because I don't have an easy access to a water hose.

I use the Garry Dean method :
  • Drive to my coin-op to rinse heavy dirt
  • 12 MF towels for paint and 4 MF for wheels, all in one bucket, no re-introducing dirty towels to the solution
  • Pre-soak a panel with double-concentration ONR and let sit for a couple of minutes before wiping down with a wet MF towel
  • Dry...

Question is : can I blot dry ONR? Or does it absolutely have to be rubbed/wiped off to prevent streaking?

If I can actually blot dry it, would you guys recommendthe Uber Super Drying Towel or a similar product? It looks miraculous and I'd like to abandon Waffle Weave and wiping/dragging the towel on the paint.

Um...try blotting and see if it works for you? It should work, it depends on your drying towel and what kind of surface tension you have...which should be pretty good with ONRWW, but it depends on the condition of your paint.

So:
You want to stray a little from the "GD-method(s)"

•If I'm going to Polish-the-paint after
the RW-ing process...
-wiping and buffing is my drying method.

•If I'm just doing a maintenance wash on
"already corrected paint"...
-blotting is my preferred drying method
-Note:
I've been known to follow-up with "The Final Wipe"<<<(MP).

If you'll be blotting to dry I'd recommend using distilled water to avoid any water spots.

A tightly wrung out microfiber first pass, waffle weave to finish...or sometimes I toss a beach towel (no sand) all the way across the car while on washing the next section. Works just like blotting without the work.

ONR W+S is best applied with a thick sponge. Do a panel at a time (half the roof, half the hood etc.). Sponge on ONR W + S and let dwell 30 seconds, then wipe to dry (you should see dirt on your wiping towel). I use two waffle weaves to do a 2001 Grand Prix. Now if you want to really give the paint some "POP" use a Detailer and a soft microfiber towel and wipe down each panel. Try it once and see what I mean. It takes me 20 min. to do my whole car (no coin wash) and that's taking it easy.
