what's the last car care/detailing video you've just watched?

She's the fool for spending the money and then letting the car go to hell. Too bad she didn't just hire you to do weekly washes. I do hope the coating is okay under the filth.

I’ve washed my hand of the situation. I was very explicit before doing the job that the main factor affecting the life expectancy of the coating is the maintenance routine. Unfortunately the vehicle needs a coating as opposed to most people wanting one. She bought it from her brother and even though it was only three years old at the time of the coating, the paint was very thin thanks to neglect, the thinnest on any vehicle I’ve worked on.

Reminds me of a customer I talked with recently. She was a very nice customer but like so many others, you can lead a horse to water......

I coated her car in late June and just like with all of my customers I made sure she at least knew how to do a rinseless wash, we did one together, and that she had all of the supplies to begin maintaining her SUV. I told her that around late September I would invite her and her husband back to show them how to do a deeper clean using Descale. I kept my word and contacted her but she was too busy to stop by. She then called me in mid November and I asked her how had she been maintaining the vehicle since it was coated. She hadn't was the answer. Aside from rinsing off the car with their hose she nor her husband had done nothing. This is after I walked her and her son through the process of doing a rinseless wash and got them the necessary products. Now they have a dirty SUV with water spots. Stuff like this makes me want to stop being so nice and just coat these cars and send people on their way.

That basically comes down to pure laziness.

She opted for a coating because she thought it meant no effort was required, that it would be an impervious barrier. Laziness.

The lack of washing, even after being informed about the importance of doing so, that's laziness.

Now her laziness has come home to roost.

And yet, if you hadn't explained the importance of coating maintenance, how to and when to do it, your name would then be dragged through the mud because "I paid lots of money for a coating and it didn't work properly, he ripped me off....."

Can't win sometimes.

Buff Daddy! I forgot all about Kevin, glad to see he's still got his site going.

HF dropped a handheld steamer in their Grant's lineup:

I might pick up that steamer for general use. My existing one is forgotten.

looks like MTM dropped the ball on their new "improved" pf22.2 foam cannon. the wide mouth bottle looks like it came from the 99 cent store and the small tabs (that lock the bottle on) on the threading have excess material hanging off (should be clean and refined) which can potentially get stuck under the cap and drop inside the bottle in the wash solution. also, the side where the holes are exposed can attract dirt in (poorly designed IMO). looks to be the same performance as the older version (small mouth) as well. the griot's/mjjc foam cannons would easily be my choice (to each their own) over this. just goes to show you that an existing idea (can relate to anything) can be improved upon and made better by another...

Avoid these OVERRATED detailing techniques: 5 tips to save you time | Podcast #83 #diydetail - YouTube
I must be bored to watch this guy lol. I do not agree with alot of what yvan says. Especially in this video, where he says about reusing/ and cleaning pads on the go. Also that they cut better when damp. That you only really need one pad per vehicle. This is oitragous to me. Also he says using pressure when polishing is counter productive. I believe otherwise.l, even mike p teaches to use pressure.

He has stock for pad washers . I think that technique works as other have tried. Probably cheaper over time but probably slower also. I’m going to get an air compressor to blow out. I do use pad spray after cleaning before adding new polish. Read that it keeps heat down….

Thats interesting. To each thier own, inducing moisture to the pad is only making the pad less effective. What is it about the heat are you worried about hurting? What type of pad are you using air compressor for?
