what's the last car care/detailing video you've just watched?

I lost all respect for Yvan when, after years of hawking "Optimum Synergy" he quit (or got fired) and then proceeded to hawk any and all products that came his way, prior to DIY.
Exactly, it is always the best that money can buy until he quits hawking it and then it is trash and on to the next "best thing"

I guess there are good products in the DIY line, but I will never know because I refuse to pay him a penny or click on his videos

Plus his sidekick is a gibbering buffoon

I think part of my problem is if I do a rinseless wash, I'm not flushing anything out from under the valence panel, and then when it rains, all this crap gets washed out from under there, maple spinners from last decade, etc. No matter how much I flush it more crap seems to come out, I don't know if it's stuff from when it was on the dealer lot, etc.

When you say your Lexus piano black panels are "tough", do you mean hard to mar?

Yes, the EXTERIOR piano black seems to be much more scratch resistant than other vehicles I have encountered, and trust me, the boss puts her hands on the piano black on her side soooooo often, as if her mission in life is a Toyota materials tester

😬

I know what you mean about the endless amount of gunk that can get trapped under "design elements" that can only get flushed out by pressure washing and often only from a very particular angle

I was looking for info on a specific Gyeon product and saw this and was intrigued

Go to 51 seconds into the video and see what he has to say about using the super soft makeup brushes on ANY vehicle surface

I have been using various brands of these brushes for quite some time and have never seen any damage, even on gauge plastic and piano black

Thoughts?
There's no way you can scratch the surface with a brush like that. I have a makeup brush that my wife never used and it's so soft you can barely tell it's there when you run your fingers through it.

I don't remember that, I remember him saying he was a graphic artist or something along those lines. I haven't watched any of his videos in years.

He is most likely anything he can dream up. Probably a god idea to take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Exactly

How many of us, me included, clean badges and stuff with a boar's hair brush and as long as the brush is clean and in good shape and we use common sense and lots of soap, I have never noticed any damage

Pay is so full of it, his eyes are brown. Watching that and others was like watching a bad sitcom and they're laughing all the way to the bank. It's partly the reason I don't watch anything from the THOR circle jerk collective.

I have watched a couple of the ADS generated videos recently and liked them. They are more "straight ahead" in that they show how to use the product, without the extra hype and BS. I may have to purchase some of their products...
We're here if you've got any specific questions

Idrosave,
Anybody use Labrocosmetica Idrosave as a drying aid or a quick detailer? If so what dilution ratio and what were the results?
I haven't used it this way...yet, but I'm going to make some QD for sure IIRC the QD ratio is 256:1

I use them for an initial dusting of nav screens and gauge cluster plastic if I can't get my horsehair vacuum dusting brush in there

I originally though they would be great for badges and stuff but I quickly came to the conclusion they did next to nothing on exterior stuff, which is why I question his conclusion

If anything, I think they are TOO gentle for most cleaning

I use them dry on the interior stuff that I use, but maybe I better take a step back and see if they actually ARE doing damage and I just always assumed there couldn't be any

🤷‍♂️
If there is dust present on any surface and you come in with a super soft brush like that, it's going to be mirco scratchs from dust etc, not so much the bristles. Imo

Piano black plastic is very easy to scratch but I think that in the video was already pre-scratched prior to filming.

as for gauge clusters I can't confirm on digital ones but if you go to the normal analog plastic all you have to do is look at them sideways and they will scratch on certain models

I will never understand why they make that plastic so delicate.

Me ither, it's like the devil himself made them just to spite us,
I used to wipe the VW Amarok with a very soft Meguiars interior mitt
and at that time they were clean, but know 9 years down the road you can see the mirco scratchs, So i just don't touch them even though they are all dusted up i try not to look at them.

If i were to clean I'd use air or a damp very SOFT cloth and just wipe like a little kiss, like just kissing the plastic 😗.

Have heard of a company called Novus

I have never used brushes like that on interior and see no advantage especially those that lather up the surface while using it. It looks like a gimmick in marketing as if pampering. I will use on deep grille pockets where hard to get with mf.

Hmmmm, well I guess you won't like this photo then..................................

I thought Pan once mentioned he was educated in Chemical Engineering or something similar. I refuse to watch Pan do anything. He has shown his true colors and he only cares about Pan. He is sleazy.
I did some google searching and there is a chemist with the same last name but the first name was "Pant..." rather than "Pand...." I worked with two from Greece and they used easy for westerners say shorter names.

I just never seemed to have a need for them except on emblems on exterior. I have a few never really use them on the interior.
